  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi, I am new here and want to buy a used Genesis sedan and need your help.

There are 2010 and 2011 model years available with 20 to 30K miles. Here are some questions and I would welcome any advise at all regarding my purchase in the next week or so.

1. Is there any difference between the 2010 and the 2011 model years?

2. Since I am buying the V8 which come with the tech option group, are there any other options which we're available in those models years?

Many thanks in advance. Sincerely.

Ken

no.

None other than the typical dealer installed options (wheel locks, ipad cable, trunk tray, etc.).

If you are buying CPO or from a Hyundai dealer, have them update maps (Oct 1 2012 new maps from mapnsoft).

My advice? Get a leftover, or gently used, 2012 V6 3.8. What's not to like about 333hp?

The 2010 may not have smart cruise control. Look at the front of the car for the two solid back areas in the lower part of front bumper. These are for the radar. The smart cruise is something we use everyday.

If it has the tech pkg, It has smart cruise control. I have a '10 4.6 with tech pkg.

The #1 advice I would give is look at the Carfax to avoid a former rental. The Genesis is a popular rental fleet car. Rentals seem to get more interior and exterior wear than their miles would normally have.

Thanks for the replies. The carfax reports which i have seen do not reveal who the former owners we're. excellent point. The dealership might know but getting them to admit it might be an uphill battle. i do want want a former rental, those cars are beat up.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
2011 and late built 2010 4.6's have a 10HP bump over the 2010 4.6.

Everything else should be the same.

They do not reveal previous owners for private ownership, but I believe they should show if the car was used for business purposes.
My other car shows that it was a fleet vehicle at a certain point, so I would assume rental cars would show a similar declaration on carfax.

Off the top of my head, the 2011 4.6 has - the minimal increase in hp, Tech package standard and an improved suspension.

2010 and 2011 suspensions are the same. Improvements came mid-year 2009 (minor), 2010, and 2012.

The 2012 3.8 had a slew of cosmetic and mechanical upgrades, with a 333hp motor and eight speed tranny, it performs as well as the non R spec V8 with much better MPG. 0-60 clocks about 5.4 sec, which for me is a very fast car, and 22-29 mpg. The led lights up front get stares from all, and the rear audi like Leds look fantastic.
