  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I got my Wings yesterday

This is why they can't be ordered from a us parts dept. they have to come from overseas

Nope. The reason the 2009-2014 Genesis wings cannot be ordered from a US dealer parts department is that HMA (Hyundai Motor America) only supplies dealers with OEM parts installed on US models. The wings are OEM parts on Genesis sold in Korea, Middle East, and Russia, and those ebay stores, etc get them from Korean Hyundai dealers and import them, and sell them to consumers and/or US dealers that want them.

The 2015 Genesis wings for hood, airbag, wheel caps, etc can be ordered from a US dealer (eventually) because they are OEM parts on US models. The rear trunk wings will still have to be imported.

This is the response I just got from my parts mgr(You are right there was a copy right lawsuit about the winged logo. The issue has been resolved and the new genesis will come from the factory with the logo.)

Almost two years ago I bought my wing wheel caps from a local Hyundai dealer who also sells discount parts on the Internet. The parts manager explained that they were not USA parts, but came via Korea. Nothing prohibited that dealer from selling them to me TWO YEARS ago. If your dealership had any sense at all, they would have been selling such items back then too. No offense, but you and your parts man are confused. Talk to your GM about it.

Wrong again we been selling them for a few years now
Selling the wings at your dealership? Did you get them from HMA (Hyundai Motor America) where all your other OEM parts come from?

I am not sorry I started the "I Got My Wings" discussion,. however I didn't intend for it to turn into a heated discussion of various opinions.
Just for the Record, my Dealer ordered and installed them.

My wings came today. It's kind of a crappy day outside here, and I have some errands to run this afternoon. So I'll just watch the how-to-do-it video a few times to get comfortable with the installation job.

BTW. I spoke with my "PARTS & SERVICE DIRECTOR " he was with a Hyundai rep 2 days ago & asked about the law suite. The answer he got was " all yet that was settled quite a while ago" all we had to do was put the word Genesis in the emblem.

Mounted my wings today. Used a plastic putty knife and hair dryer. Took less than five minutes to get the rear badge off. The glue was another matter. I found the best approach involved liberal amounts of Goof-Off. The stuff softens the glue up nicely, though you want to be careful not to spread it around too far beyond the original border of the flying H, because it tends to smear and you have to get it ALL off.

For the front, I used a Dremel to saw off the two pegs, making sure to saw them off below the level of the glue, and then, just to be on the safe side, I took a bench grinder to it to smooth the rough edges.

Now if Virginia DMV would get on the ball and send my permanent registration so I can get my vanity plates back on...
