  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I hate this remote start

While that is true, newer versions of the app allow you to do it on one step. For some reason, not all have the option.
Yes, I've done the lock then start but too often by the time the first command is sent you are almost to the car before you can send the second command.

It is really a simple programming solution to do it in one step and save many people from that first world problem. It took years to get it done half assed so why not finish the job? . Petty? Sure, but it is a minor programming issue that should not exist.

This is a luxury market they are aiming for. In their headquarters do you think they have to fill the tank before flushing the toilet? Of course not. Do it right and make it a simple one step.

I don't disagree, but refer to my previous statement common sense is the enemy of people today and what you are stating means someone at Genesis corporate would need some common sense, and we have seen many situations in the past 3-4 years where that line of thinking doesn't appear to be mainstream at Genesis.

so perhaps they do have to "fill the tank" before they flush..

Anyone having issues where the remote start doesn't turn on the heated steering wheel and rear defrost/mirror defrost even though it's selected in the App? Since I've owned 2020 G80 Sport (July 2020) that feature hasn't worked. Everything else works fine, just not the rear window defrost and heated steering wheel. Not sure if it has to go to the dealer for it, or if its a Genesis Connected issue.

Not trying to be a nob, but are you remote starting with the right setting? In other words is it possible you are using the quick default start engine button that isn't set to the right favourite engine start settings with the heated wheel set?

Nope, using my preset that I have set to default. I’m in Canada so I have it set to 22.5 degrees, front defrost, heated steering wheel and rear defrost/mirrors. Everything else works fine, but the rear defrost/mirrors and heated steering do not turn on.

Personally the remote start/app annoys me to no end. Half the time it makes me log in again every time I try to use the widget to remote start it because it did some pointless update over night. Thid is so regardless of how many times I tell it to keep me logged in. It takes far too long. If I tell it to start and then it looses wifi (as it does every time I'm leaving my office) it won't work.

We got my wife a Kia Sportage from Vroom and it came with an aftermarket remote start, which is just a fob with a single button. You press the button, it plays a cheesy little chime and the thing starts. Instantly. From like mile away if need be. My kingdom for that kind of simplicity.

I don't even have those options in the lower 48.

I say why can't they just give us Key Fob option as well covers both scenarios of line of sight ie. my front window to being in a building somewhere....also remember the app is using a slower network than our phones...but I agree the app is extremely slow and limited. Why can't we switch on heated seats if we can do the steering wheel? I'm in Canada too and its really annoying that my steering wheel is warm but my ass is still sitting on -10 leather seats or whatever

Why in the hell does it not just automatically lock the doors before starting? It is painful to try and start, get the message that the doors are not locked... send message to lock doors.
In the menu of my app, there is a setting to lock the doors if they are unlocked when I send a remote start. I haven't tested it, though.

They want the revenue of a paid subscription... many car makers are moving to this model.

Don't have a quick start option on my app running ver 1.26 updated 4 weeks ago her win Canada?

@TinsleyC - I don't see it looking quickly. Will look more thoroughly shortly. Could not be in Canada here. We still don't have the widget for the app

Not everyone has it. I'm using the latest Android version in the US 2.8.92 on a Samsung Galaxy S20+ and it is not there.

So it seems the automatic unload during remote start is ONLY on iPhones in the US. Anyone an exception to this rule?

In software, we often say, "if you can warn the user of what they need to do you can also do it for them".

I always have mine locked so no biggie but I can see why it is to you guys.

If you mean auto lock during remote start, I have it on Android. My '19 G80 is the base model.

I just tried this out and while it "worked", it's ridiculous!

Went to the garage to make sure car was unlocked. In Settings, the setting to lock the car if it's unlocked when remote starting was checked.

Used app to start car. Mine typically takes 40 seconds to respond but after 40 seconds nothing happened. The app reported that I still had a pending start, so I canceled it.

I tried the command again, and this time I waited. Again after 40 seconds nothing happened, but continued to wait. 40 seconds later I heard the doors lock! ... But no start. Phone still showed a pending start, but I canceled it again.

Then I started thinking maybe it's doing it in three stages, so I tried it all again (had to unlock the car to restart test) without cancellation. Sure enough!

- After 40 seconds nothing happened.
- After another 40 seconds the doors locked.
- After another 40 seconds the car started!

So it takes a full 2 minutes to start your car if the doors are unlocked. I never leave them unlocked unless the car is in the garage.

Primitive!

You may need to update your head unit software. I applied the November USA update, then updated my Android phone app.

Seems odd they would make them differently. Here's how my main screen looks -

Yes mine is "2.8.92 Prod" but on an S10e. EdP, you did update your head unit with the November update, I recall you writing about it.
