  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I should buy a 5.0 R-Spec, right guys?

I'm having a blast with my 2012 R spec. It's a beast!! One of the funnest cars I have ever driven in my life, and I have had Mercs, Mustangs etc. Get the 5.0, why wouldn't you?

Well, since you asked, besides the jump in price and weight, at least in the 2012 model year when I bought mine, the V6 had the GDI, and the V8 only had the multi-port injection. I wanted the newer GDI technology more than I wanted the more expensive V8, so I didn't think too long about going with the V6. More horse-power would have been nice, but with 333 ponies, I always get grin on my face when I put my right foot into it, so I'm happy with my choice. 29 mpg at 80 mph on the freeway doesn't hurt either!

^ 5.0 is GDI for 2012.

In 2012 both 4.6 and 5.0 were available. 5.0 being GDI

At the time I got mine, the 5.0 was not yet available. This would have been March/April as I recall. Also didn't want the Rspec ride. A non-Rspec V8 was only rumoured at the time.

The GDI V6 base I had as a rental got me hooked on Genesis. Kept it for a time to see if initial impression would wear off. Got stronger. The V6 is spectacular. In the end, went for V8, because the choice was there and went for the top rung. Choose the non R-Spec, because more rare, had 18" wheels (replacement tires a bit lower cost at 18" than 19" for same tire), had Michelins, and the same suspension as R-Spec. The base Genny had Dungflops.. Ride on the 5.0 was not rougher. More buttoned down.. I suspect the Dungflops had something to do with taking away from the chassis. And the 5.0 non R-Spec had the wood steering wheel, yet leather instead of faux wood on dash. All matter of personal preferences and choice. World is great..

Just over 20k on my 2013. Have loved every pavement pounding mile.

The only problem is that it WANTS to run. Had a irritated, obviously in a hurry blonde girl in a Lexus riding my tail when I had cars in front of me and nowhere to go on a rural area of interstate. We were all already doing around 80. When the waters finally parted, I punched it, looked down in a what seemed like a couple of seconds and had hit 125 and climbing fast. I let off before I ended up in jail, but it made me realize that caution is needed behind the wheel of this animal. Never saw any of the other cars, including the tail-riding blonde again.

Great story. And, it shifts into 6th at just about 150, still pulling enough to press you in the seat. Two more gears to go for certain non limited 5.0. Of course, this is just a rumor. [emoji41]

Yes!
I was on the fence until I drove a 2015. I like both cars but took the cheese when they offered the deep discounts on the 2013's and 2014's.
I have not regretted my decision or had any buyers remorse.
I dont have much to compare it to, since I have been driving pickups and SUV's for a while.
First and foremost, I love the 429HP V8! I wouldnt have any other engine.
The sound system is amazing. I find myself listening to music all the time now. (I used to listed to sports talk radio). I put all mys music on a USB stick.
It is a smooth and comfortable ride. The seats are good not excellent.
The brakes are very good too, just dont know why they didnt paint the rear calipers black, like the fronts on the Rspec.
My genesis 5.0 rspec came black calipers
