  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone know if the illuminated Door Scuff Plates option available for the 2022 GV80 can be installed on the 2021 GV80?

do not know if it can be installed on 21--probably can. I installed lighted scuff plates from Hi Motors in South Korea.. You can find them at Himotors.com

Contact the seller. Ask if the wiring is in place for plug and play installation. Otherwise, you will have to wire it.

Thank you I will look into it.

Manufacturers do strange things. For example, I installed plug and play lighted sill plates in my ‘12 Genesis. The plug and play wiring fortunately was there so no wiring was necessary. Installation took me 20 minutes.

Owners of ‘15 Genesis models weren’t so lucky and their cars came without the plug and play wiring. They could still install the LED sill plates, but also had to run the wiring. That certainly reduced aftermarket sill plate sales.

You right about that. Hopefully I get lucky

Do you have a part number? I purchased a 2023 GV80 and was told no OEM option for an illuminated door scuff plate. I have searched the web high and low and could not even find a part number / called a Genesis parts dealer and the couldn’t find a part number for any year. Any help would be appreciated.

You're welcome.

It seems clear from the installation instructions for the part number given above that wiring is not an issue. The light in the sill plate uses replaceable batteries.

That is correct. It uses a magnet that you attach to the door to turn it on or off.

I believe the third party one from HI-Motors does require wiring.

I’m assuming these are only for the front doors?

yes it does and they are available for both front and back doors. They turn on and off with opening the door. Mine were installed with a tiny 1/8 inch hole drilled into the side of the sill plate to get to wiring. If you look close when you see them you can see about 1/8 inch wire showing, but no one notices.

Do you know where they tapped into the power from?

Do not know specifically, but it has to be the circuit that when you open the door the inside lights go on as well as the sill plates. If you know which wire controls those, it probably is that. The shop that did my plates and retractable, lighted running boards has a computer subscription to a company that shows all the wiring diagrams to cars-that is how he knew what wires to use.

Mine are battery operated, factory installed on my '22 GV80. Battery is a the small disc type and is located beneath the scuff plate.
