  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm buying one in the next day or so...

After as much research as I have time, I’ve got the dealer looking for the 2011 Genesis I want:
V6 in Titanium Grey, Saddle Interior and the Tech Package.

One thing I like right away is the lack of options.
Just three packages makes choosing what I want easy instead of either finding a car with too many or too few options. (less buyers remorse)

I do have a couple of questions, if someone would be so kind:

What is so wrong with the IPod Interface?
I mean, does the IPod just play like it would with external speakers (i.e you control it with the IPod), or does the Stereo System actually try to interface with the Ipod?

{2nd question removed - found the answer in the Owners Manual posted here (Thanks)}

This will be my new Company-Car on a three year lease, and I’m a little skeptical about the dealership and how I will be treated.

My personal car is an Infiniti M45 and I know I’ve been spoiled with things like loaner cars of the same class, free pickup for local scheduled service and a dealership waiting room that makes you almost enjoy waiting, and I’m guessing that I’ll see none of this from Hyundai, but what are the experiences others have had from their dealerships?
(I'm in Sunnyvale, California if anyone has any local experiences to share)

While it’s under warrantee and/or having scheduled maintenance performed, do the dealerships offer you any loaners or do you have to give a call to Hertz?
(Before anyone mentions it, I’ve read about the Equus and how Hyundai is combating the Luxury car buyer’s fear of the Hyundai dealerships, but the Equus is beyond the reach of our Company-Cars.)

But really, are the Hyundai dealerships going to focus so much on the Equus at the expense of basically placing the Genesis owners in the same heap as the Accent owners?
(I sound elitist to me, but still...$40K vs $10K)

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
The iPod interface has been fine for me. I can activate playlists and control playback from the console or steering wheel. I can also display and choose from lists of artists, songs, and so on, but it takes long if you have a lot of music on the iPod. The screen shows the current song, artist, and time. My only complaint so far is that if I set random playback, it reverts to non-random when I restart.

iPod interface works just fine.

As for the dealership: You get what you pay for. This is my very first Hyundai and I have been truly amazed with the car. The dealership, however, is just okay. Don't expect to be treated like VIP. I went from Honda to Lexus then Hyundai. Hyundai's dealership experience is on par with Honda. People at the service department are there just to do their job. Not to make you feel special. It was the same with Honda. Don't expect to get a loaner's car. Honda gave me a used element with a "for sale" sticker on the windshield when my brand new Accord had a problem on the bumper on day 1. Lexus experience was much better. They just treat you like a special customer. If you think you'll be visiting the dealership often, I would go with a different car. However, it's going to be very difficult to find a different car that can match the Genesis in terms of features and price. I dare you to name one that comes even close. :)

I disagree with some of the other members! The dealer that I frequent (Did not buy from) treats me like gold! Genesis loaners, free hand wash and interior clean, top off all fluids including premium gas for free ! You need to find the right dealer in your area. Other members may help if they see your request or if you start a different thread just for a dealer in you area! Good Luck! 15 months and 23K miles and I still love my car

+1, Matt. My dealer is also excellent - not glitzy, but they take good care of me (and from what I can see, Elantra owners as well). Loaner or shuttle to work if needed, competent service advisors and techs, and good sales staff. The facility itself is dated and decidedly unfancy, but I don't give a hoot about that stuff. Marble floors and latte's are not worth an extra $15K tacked on to the price of the car.

Remember that the 3.8 has solid lifters in the engine and they will need adjustment as stated in the manual. And do read your manuals and study them, this will save you much time and aggravation in the long run.

Well, one thing that is definitely different when buying a Genesis from any other car I have ever purchased…the West Coast dealers are not interested in leasing these cars at all.
I can barely get even one of them to answer my calls or emails and when they do, and I agree to the offer they give me, they won't answer or send me the paperwork to fill out.

Do I have to go to the dealership and beg them to "Please, lease me a car?"
Truly amazing.
I have cash in hand; a 750+ Credit Rating and these dealers don't want anything to do with me.

Reading the posts here makes me want to get in a plane and fly out to the East Coast where there are dealers that sound like they want to move these cars off of the lot.

Corporate Hyundai, if you are reading this, please contact these dealers and find out what's going on.
I'm thinking since they are used to selling cars that are not leased, they don't know what to do?

Is there some other way to get one, or should I take this as a sign to "Move along, there's nothing here for you"

I've had my 2011 Genny 4.6 Tech pkg for about a week and all I can say is I'm impressed. The only negative I have is with those dam Dunlop tires. Terribly noisy ride. My salesman in Newnan Ga, introduced me to the service manager and he told me that when I came to the shop, he would put me in front of all Non-Genesis/Equus customers. I think they are starting to realize that they need to up customer service for their premium line vehicles. They are redoing their entire service center, and I was told that Hyundai is demanding that the dealers start upgrading their "look". All encouraging but will probably take many years to perfect. Time will tell.

I just had the 15000 mile service done on my 2011 4.6 at Rick Case in Duluth. Rick Case has updated their waiting area and offer loaners to Genesis owners. I have to say that it was a good experience. I have also posted in this forum about the Dunflop tires, will be getting Michelin Pilot Sport a/s since we drive a lot and drive aggressive.

What is the 15,000 mile service? Reading the manual, there is no service required for quite a while (past 15,000 miles). Don't get hosed by the dealership. Bob...are you reading this??????

The 15k service is very basic. Basically, an oil change and visual inspection. Every time that I bring mine in to the dealership, it is an opportunity for them to up sell me and make me feel like I need all this stuff for my car when I know that most of the stuff they want to sell me is not necessary. I guess that is how they make their money though...

Rick Case, Duluth, GA(Atlanta) did not try to sell me anything extra. Charged 114.00 gave me a free car wash and a coupon off 15.00 on my next service. Oh, and I didn't buy the car from them, they are just the closest dealer to me. Very good experience. I also asked how many Equus they had sold and they looked it up and the number was seven as of Feb. 14, 2011.
