Well, (as you know) it's supposed to look like the GV80 concept - which (without significant changes to the lighting and grille) would be a mistake.
Do you have any thoughts on the Kia Stinger, while I have your attention?

(That grille design is so ungainly; really hope it gets some of the New York concept treatment.)
Haven't I said enough about it over on GMI? lol
(Don't worry, I'll eventually make it over to the Stinger forum.)
To sum up, really like what the Stinger brings to the table.
There are things that I quibble with such as certain details on the exterior and certain material choices for the interior (could also lose some weight, but that's not going to happen until the next gen platform).
Regarding the material choices, Kia didn't quite go far enough.
Where certain interior bits are made of real metal (aluminum), there are still parts (such as the door releases and metal-looking accents on the knobs - not sure about the paddle shifters) which are painted plastic.
My views on that are well known when it comes to touch-points (some here, thinking that's being too critical).
But apparently, all the metal-looking bits in the G70 are made of real metal.
That was due to the insistence of one of the persons working on the G70 (wise move).
So the G70 (until the G80's MCE or maybe not til the next gen model) will have the interior with better quality materials.
But btwn the G70 and Stinger, I would pick the Stinger (really don't care about having a lux brand or lux dealer experience - not all that it's cracked up to be and don't like to spend time at dealerships anyway - unless it's looking at/testing new cars).
Like the Stinger more when it comes to aesthetics (both inside and out) and while I would normally opt for the more sportier drive, the greater utility and space of the Stinger better fits my needs (think the somewhat cramped rear seats in the G70 is going to bite Genesis a bit; while not as bad as say, the ATS' rear bench space, it's goes away from the formula of offering more [space] for the $$).
But as good as the Stinger and G70 are purported to be (based on all the reviews) it will be the next gen of Genesis and (RWD) Kia models that really take the cake based upon having...
1. new, lighter weight platforms
2. new, more fuel efficient engines
3. new transmissions (whether that be the 10 spd AT or possibly a DCT option)
4. Biermann having had more time to work his magic (the i30N is getting absolutely rave reviews - some of those performance bits will work their way into Genesis and RWD Kia models).
Yes, its ugly. The grill is overbearing and wheels are ugly with the alligator skin on them. Overall shape is fine. Not sure about the headlights. May be better with one wide band rather than 2 narrow. . Front end would be better if the wide band of chrome was painted to tone down the gaudiness mass of metal. Accura grills are ugly for the same reason. Other opinions differ or it would not have gotten this far but it would never be in my driveway.
Just checking since you quoted the part about the Kia Stinger - but you do realize the car pictured in your post is the Genesis SUV concept. Right? Here's a picture of the Kia Stinger...
I really haven't been spending much time at GMI lately. It doesn't feel the same as it did years ago. I liked it better back then - even with all the people who still hailed Cadillac as the standard of the world...
IThe most shocking thing about the Stinger, to me, is the lack of surround view camera - especially when Canada gets it, even at a much lower price.
IAs for upcoming rear wheel drive vehicles - I've heard rumors of a rear wheel drive Optima. Have you heard anything? As for the Stinger forum, it would be great to have your presence over there. The domain name is really easy to remember: kiastinger.com![]()
