  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My wife and I stopped at a local Hyundai dealer to check out the 2009 Genesis. Had about 8 on the lot and right away my wife spotted a silver one
that the salesman had a black interior (partial to silver - dosen't show the dirt). Good looking car but when the salesman opened the door so my wife could sit in it, all she could say was "I thought you said it had a black interior why does this have a brown leather insert" answer was " they all do".
My wife dosen't really care for the burled wood look but can live with it but the brown leather insert was a sale stopper.
Don't know if the color scheme was just on that option range or not. Out of the 8 cars, a couple of blacks, reds, blue and white. There were only 2 price ranges that I remember, 5 or 6 were $40.000 and the other 2 or 3 were 34 or 37. They all had black interiors with the brown leather insert. I asked him to check if you could order one with all black interior he stated he didn't know for sure but would ask inside, 5 minutes later he came back out and stated "thats how they all come". On walking around we did spot a (I'll call it) Cashmere with a black interior that had a darker brown leather insert that I thought was beautiful.
Question for all you folks: was he telling the truth and thats how they all come or was he blowing smoke out.....
It's a beautiful car but (trying not to get flamed here) but really can't see the reason to advertise a black interior and yet have a brown leather insert running from side to side and 2 or 3 inches high. Maybe if it was in a brown car but it was in all of them - except for the Cashmere
Hopefully I'll get an answer in the next day or so....Until then Stay safe and enjoy you new cars they sure are beautiful!!

i have been trying to find out the same thing as i have one on order. i don't care for it either, in my mind it should be all black. i have a brouchure at home that shows all black, but it seems most of hyundai's websites show the brown stripe. the sales staff at the dealer i am buying from could offer no insight. a genesis team member at the 1800 number could offer no insight. i have a feeling i am going to be dissapointed, i just hope it grows on me.....

It grows on you, I didn't like it at first either:( All the V6 cars have it, as far as I know. The pictures you see with the black leather [on black] are the V8. And since no one has seen one in the flesh, no one knows for sure.

If I may offer a somewhat physical, yes physical, Point of View on this.

The brown, helps transition the dashboard, with the rods & cones in your eye. You may not think staring out thru a winshield, then looking at a silver speedo, then suddenly a black dashboard, then down some more to a silver trim piece, and back and forth is taxing on the human eye...

but it actually *"can"* cause fatique, boredom, and distaste over short periods of time. :)

The brown, while you may not like it, is a very natural, earthly color. The stitching is pleasant, and subtle. Because it's a natural tone, it activates parts of the brain that enjoy nature colors/earthly colors, and helps to "liven up things".

It flows amazingly well with the dash color & the seats, be them brown, beige, or black. I've seen the 3.

Just offering some insight, that one may not have thought off... hope it's not useless info...

I have test driven one, and seen 4 different V-8's at Garden Grove Hyundai with black interior and they ALL had the brown leather dash. This was one of my reasons for waiting for the V-8 as I had the V-8 brochure that shows the black leather dash and really liked the look. The salesman did not think a black leather dash would be available.
