  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Interior space. compare with Lexus & MB

Headroom is a little misleading, because I believe the the other cars come standard with a sunroof. Even though the Genesis 4.6 has a sunroof standard (which reduces headroom), if you select the Genesis 3.8 V6 in the comparison it gives the same headroom diminesions (40.4") as the 4.6 V8 even though the base 3.8 has no sunroof.

I don't know if it is just on my 4.6 or what, but I have a problem with seat adjustment. I am not tall, only 5'9". I have my seat adjusted all the way to the back and I still don't seem to have the leg room that I need. I feel a little cramped, having to 'reach' to get to the pedals comfortably. I would also like to be able to adjust the seat a little higher. Does anyone else have this problem?

I haven't taken it in yet to be checked but I will have it in for it's first service in about 2 weeks. I'll ask them about it then.

I am about 5'10 and have no problem with the leg room. I think if I brought my seat all the way back I wouldn't be able to touch the peddals! :) Might need to have it looked at.

At 6' 2" w/ a 34" inseam I wish there was a bit more available legroom up front. I sat in the new Subaru Legacy a couple weeks ago and was amazed at the range of adjustment for the front seat. When the seat was all the way back my legs were fully extended straight out in order to touch the pedals. This is why you can never trust numbers. According to the specs the Genesis has 1.3" more front legroom, but in reality it's not even close. I wonder how they determine front seat legroom. They obviously aren't taking the measurements with the seats all the way back.

The Genesis is a great car, but it's important to remember that numbers only tell part of the story. Another example? The Genesis is as big as a LS460 on paper, but in person the Lexus just feels a tad bit bigger somehow.

The Mercedes E-Class and Lexus LS are mid-size sedans. The Hyundai Genesis is a full-size sedan. It would actually be really odd if the Genesis were NOT any bigger..
The EPA size ratings are based on interior volume, not any particular dimensions. The interior volume size can be influenced by the shape of the car. For example, a car that is more aerodynamic with a more sloping roof line in the rear may have less overall interior volume, even if that takes into account areas of the cabin that do not directly influence driver or passenger comfort.

Oh, i first know this.

Not sure where those spec came from, but the Genesis does offer a DVD player.
also a cargo net is available.
Once I see errors, I tend to discard the data.

The Yahoo website is wrong. It is listing the trunk volume for the hybrid LS600H, where the trunk is largely consumed by the battery pack. The LS460 has an 18cf trunk, larger than the Genesis.

The EPA class ratings are based on combined passenger + cargo volume. Anything over 119 CF is considered large. Midsize is 110-119. The Genesis is 109+16=125CF. Lexus does not list the passenger volume for the LS, but if Yahoo's 103 is correct, then the total is 103+18=121, still a large car. The L version would be more.

I can tell you from my shopping that the ES350 is EPA rated as a compact, 94+15=109CF. Its the biggest reason I didn't get it. I think a lot of the lost space in the Lexus is in the headroom. I nearly scrape the ceiling in an ES, especially in the back. I have 4 inches to spare in the Genesis.

Interesting side note: the Camry, on which the ES350 is based, is a mid-size. It has 102CF passenger volume. Lexus must have made a deliberate decision to sacrifice interior volume for looks (?!?) or soundproofing or something.
