If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. iPhone 5 cable

No I do not use iTunes Match.

I tried two scenarios: the first was simply just trying to play music that was on my iPhone 5 and the second was trying to stream music from MOG. Neither scenario has worked.

So yay or nay? Now we've got 2 conflicting results:confused:

I am able so stream from MOG with steering wheel controls advancing the songs, and also play music from iTunes also with steering wheel controls. I have not tried iTunes Match.
I did have a glitch this morning, plugged in my phone, the Lexicon recognized the phone but every time I attempted to play downloaded files in MOG the song would stop in less than 1 second after starting. I rebooted the phone while it was connected and everything was back to normal.
Is anyone aware of any changes to the Lexicon system from 2011 to 2012? That may account for the difference in success.

I will borrow my son's iPhone4 and video the connection working and post a link here.

2011 4.6, 30-pin to Lightning adapter (not cable), Hyundai OEM iPod cable, iPhone5.

As strange as this sounds, have you tried flipping the 8-pin connector the opposite way? Saw a post at macrumors that this fixed the connection to an in-dash stereo. I know this should not matter, but remember we are dealing with a new connector using dynamic pin assignment. I would try ever possible combo of connection - Cable > adapter > iPhone car and phone off, then change the order and try with car running and phone on, etc. Its only 10min but if it works......

Link to YouTube short video using my iPhone5 in my 2011 4.6 using the Lightning-to-30pin adapter. Not the best footage but was using my iPad2 in one hand and connecting the iPhone5 with the other :o

Thanks Gozar. I'm still undecided on the 5. Had a 3G and currently a 4, but the 5 just doesn't inspire me. Thinner/lighter/faster, big whoop;)

The only thing that has me leaning Apple is that I have a MBP13, iPad 1 & 3 and my current 4. So I've got a lot invested in Apps and everything organized and sync'd to my iTunes:rolleyes:

Gozar..I watched your video and then tried every which way to get the iPhone 5 working. I tried MOG, I tried Pandora, I tried music from my iPhone ? I tried MOg playing and then plugging in the 8 pin adapter that I attached to the Hyundai proprietary cable. Nothing seems to work on my 2012? I tried using the mode switch on the steering wheel. Nothing.

I saw on your video that you started In FM mode. Is that mode necessary to start in? Did you try other modes? Anything unique about the settings on your iPhone5 ? Is Bluetooth on? Is it AT&T or Verizon?

Thanks for help trying to troubleshoot.

I have started in FM, XM, and Disc mode and it has worked.
iPhone settings are: Bluetooth on, iTunes Wifi sync-off, iTunes Match on, use cellular data on, sound check off, EQ on, volume limit on.
I am on AT&T.

Hopefully you just have a bad adapter. Is there an Apple Store nearby?
I would expect they have stock coming in this week.

Really odd that it won't work for you but will for Gozar. Does your adapter work with other accessories? Does the Hyundai cable still work with other iDevices with the older connector? I suppose that something in the s/w could have changed between the '11 and '12 models, though that would be weird, too.

I had ordered a second adapter but did not try it..
I tried the second adapter and guess what..it works fine and sounds great...Tried it with MOG which is my primary music source as well as with music on my iPhone. Steering wheel controls work fine and song data appears on display.
I'm a happy man!!
I even find the iPhone 5 NAV to be better than the Genesis, so I set directions on both the iPhone and on the Genesis but mute the NAV volume on the Genesis and let Siri then guide me but I can see the map on the screen of the DIS. Not perfect but better
Thanks for everyone's help!!

Genesis wannabe, glad this worked out for you!

I will have to try the hybrid navigation solution, sounds intriguing.

I got my Lightning adapter today, and it works perfectly. It looks like we have a winner. My iPhone 5 seems way faster than my old 4 on the car's display.

I agree with GenesisCaptain. I just got my Lightning adaptor and it surprisingly worked perfectly. I got all my menus on my screen right away and it charges my phone. That's exactly what I needed. Also, I got the cable instead of the short adaptor and now I just have a small lightning adaptor sticking out from the arm rest instead of the larger 30 pin plug with the small 30pin to lightning adaptor attached to it. I like that solution better.

+1 - I got the cable too, instead of the plug. I like that it makes the Genesis cable a little longer. And I think it is easier to connect and disconnect from the phone than the stubby plug.

Great........now I have to buy the cable :D

It does make more sense and I can use the adapter for the line in cable with the stereo in my office.

This forum is causing the membranes in my wallet to shrink.

I got the adapter and everything works fine. In fact the Iphone 5 works much better with my Genesis than the the 4. Much faster display of all my tunes and I have 35 gigs worth.

I think I will get the cable so I can keep the phone outside of the arm rest since it seems to get too hot in there.

The adapter works fine for me as well, however I got the otter-box and didn't realize the adapter doesn't fit, so I have to return the adapter for the other one with the cord instead of the one without.

I am considering the iphone 5 (currently have the 4s but want the bigger screen), but want to make SURE it will work in my Genesis.

Sounds like you guys got it to work with the adapter, but several of you are referencing 2011 and 2012 models. Anyone here successful with a 2009 model?

Picked up an adaptor yesterday at the Apple store. Everything works great on my 2010 Tech. I can control the iphone with the steering wheel again and sound quality is good.

Count me as another success for the 30 pin to lightning adapter.

Just a note, I have an Equus and the top center console compartment is smaller than that of the Genesis. If you want to store your iPhone 5 in the top center console compartment get the .02m adapter cable and not the 30 pin adapter. If you get the 30pin adapter your iPhone 5 will not fit in the top center console compartment, at least for the Equus. It just barely fits with the smaller .02m cable adapter.

I know the Genesis upper compartment is a bit bigger, I had an 09 with tech, but with the larger iPhone 5 and 30 pin adapter might make it tight even in the Genesis.

I know the .02m cable adapter is $10 more expensive than the 30pin adapter, but, you'll cause yourself way more than $10 worth of agrivation trying to cram the iPhone 5 and 30 pin adapter into the upper compartment.

Other than that, the .02m cable adapter works perfectly.

Hope this helps.
