  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just a quick note to any of you out there who may be wondering if the IPhone works with the Lexicon system as they always refer to IPod in the manuals. I just purchased the connector and it works perfectly with my IPhone....IPhone/IPod no difference. In addition, the bluetooth connection for phone call will continue to function normally when connected and listenting to music through:p the IPhone as well. Hats of to Hyundai!

DITTO!! myiPhone works seamlessly, as they say...:p

I picked up my 3.8 with Tech Package yesterday and made them toss in the ipod cable. The sales person didnt know what I was talking about but after a chat with parts produced it. I plugged it in @ the dealership to make sure it worked, which it did.

Anyway, when I connect my iPhone 3G (running 2.2) the iphone says something to the effect of "this accessory was not made for the iphone. Would you like to turn on airplane mode to disable the phone features while listening to music?".

I say "no" and am able to control music through the onboard computer but I haven't tried using the bluetooth to make/receive phone calls while this is connected. Does it work well for you?

Also, what is the best placement you have found for it? Currently I have the ipod cable coming up through the hole to the top storage compartment of the center console where it plugs into the iphone. There isnt much length of the cable to play with so it has to sit just right if you want to close that thing I think. Which sucks because the Genesis doesnt pick up my iphones contact list or let me voice dial by name so I have to find my contact on the phone, press call, and then put it back.

Is there a way to be able to access my 100+ contacts through the genesis bluetooth or phonebook without entering them in one letter at a time to the onboard HDD? Seems like an oversight to me but then again I havent cracked open the full blown manual yet (just the quick start guides).

unfortunately , your phone contacts cannot be shared.

so the great address book question remains - I have several BT phones - including a BB Curve, and an Iphone 3g. Neither will xfer the address book to the car. I get the object push server not found error message on the BB...
I figure what I'll have to do is use the call lists and then save the numbers and add names to the address book - but I'm a newbie - got the car 2 days ago...

I have found the same thing to be true with the inability to push to the address book. I gave up and invested my energy in adding from the call list in the car. Mine are all done now.

Update: Like many of you I have been dialing from my iphone (whose interface is just better anyway) and letting the Genesis take over once I press dial. Afterwards...Ive been going into the cars dialed numbers screen and adding a name to the number so later I can voice dial.

I was thinking how cool it would be to use the phone to control the multimedia and other functions...via bluetooth of course. Basically using the iphone as a remote. I could give it to the passenger to play a song she likes, adjust her side of the cars heating, enter a GPS location to navigate to, etc. Someone make the app...I will buy it. Hyundai?

The reason the Genesis can't get contacts off the phone is that the iPhone doesn't support object push protocol. This may be changing with the 3.0 version of the SDK (though I've yet to find where to access the raw BT stack so we can add protocols).

What is the best placement anyone has found to place the iphone after connecting it to the ipod cable? I haven't had time to goof off with it much but there has to be a better way than having the cable hang out of the storage box with the cover pinching it. The storage cover barely can lock with the thickness of the cable sticking out. I hate to store the iphone in the storage but I guess that is a possiblility.

For contacts off of your iPhone, if you have a 3GS with Voice Control, just use Voice Control on the iPhone to make the call. When the call initiates, it will use the handsfree Bluetooth system of the car.

I have a little auto storage accessory I bought from Staples (or Office Depot or Best Buy). It slips in between the seat and the center console. It provides a little base for a phone or pad, and a couple pockets to put other stuff in. Its just big enough to put the phone on the base.

I also ordered an iPod Dock Extender Cable (this is basically the ipod/iphone connector extender). Hoping this will give me more freedom as to where to put the iPhone. Normally, I would use a proclip mount, but I don't like their options for the Genesis.
