Is Import Shark legit?

I also have a very bad experience with Import sharks. I purchased something from them and had to wait 3 months for it, which WASNT the BIG PROBLEM. After finally receiving it The item was DEFECTED and after contacting them and FINALLY getting a response to 7 different emails he told me there is nothing he can do for me and that he doesn't have time for this BS. BS???? Seriously???? what kind of business are you running. This has to be some kid out of his garage slinging parts because there is absolutely no custom service coming from Import Sharks. Im glad I found this thread to vent my frustration of being robbed.

You really have to provide some sort of proof for people do believe you, otherwise it looks like a made up story from some other company trying to damage another company's reputation.

What is this mystery item you bought that ended up being "defected"?
 
I'm not agreeing with him, but his story sounds so very familiar to countless others. The only reason people keep going back for parts is becuse of the parts that he has that others don't. I'll give it to IS on that though, very wide selection or items to peruse.
 
Ordered in excess of several Hundred $$$ dollars of items for my genesis coupe on the 16th of July . Money cashed immediately (on the 16th) via pay pal, but a week + later i still do not have any shipping news or estimated time except 5 emails answers ( after i send 5 of them for a shipping or an AWB tracking number ) stating the same things "delivery time posted in the product listing".
Well , I did not see any delivery time posted on any of the items I ordered at the time i did them and I do not know what would delay some steering wheel sticker, badge, and hub cap... I may have understand for my rear diffuser although I did not order the color matching ones.... LOL
So what is the deal Import Shark?
Specifically, your product appears to be priced above what the other company charge, i.e. : diffuser (same one, same pictures by the way is cheaper at a competitor with similar name, same with wheel cap and badging...) So what do we get for the premium? overall I pay a premium in excess of 20% for similar items from other distributors.
No tracking, no link to a shipping status or order status except the paypal receipt....
Just the same emails tune referring me to .." delivery time posted in the product listing".... what really does not give me any idea of shipping date or delivery date...
can someone responsible tell me something or do I have to make a claim and ask my money back..

Are they legit?? Guess it depends how you define that.

I can say I'm not impressed to say the least w/ my experience dealing w/ Import Shark.

Which is sad cause I had planned to spend thousands of dollars w/ them customizing my new 2013 Veloster Turbo.

I decided to place a test order w/ a few small items before making a big purchase since they're against talking over the phone and I wasn't sure if I could trust them.

My experience has been:

- Major lack of communication.
- Lack of responsibility.
- And even defensive when they're the ones who messed up on my order!

After waiting almost 30 days already, I was informed after I reached out to them (I.S. not even being the ones to let me know), they shipped my order to someone else.

And has is felt like they've made it a priority to help correct the situation... NO!

Not even an “I'm sorry” or “geez, our bad... we're gonna make sure we take care of you asap” ...nothing like that. It has seemed like a joke to them.

Being a successful business owner myself, I don't know how they're in still in business.
I can't recommend purchasing from them and supporting that kind of crap.
I would suggest finding somewhere else to get your import parts.

Well I have to admit they are not the best communicating. However after complaining I did receive my items about 12 days after ordering and 12 days after I was charged on my account. No info's from them on shipping but they did arrive.
The rear deflector was ok although the paint on the edge was not finished well as u could see some blue in the black so I repainted it.
I was not happy with the wheel caps. Everyone of them, the caps did not stick on the mounting they were mounted on. I had to re glue every one of them so I would not lose them while driving. Remaining of the parts badges and emblems were ok.

Your first email was sent on 7/16--the same day you placed the order. This was responded to hours later.

The second email was again sent on the 16th--and again immediately responded to.

Email #3 was sent on 7/17, asking how long it will take for the shipment to arrive. You also indicated that you read the information in the product listing and noted that the items were not out of stock at the time. We answered on the 17th as well, informing you that the estimated delivery times posted in the product listings, which can be used for reference.

The 4th email was sent on 7/19--yet again asking for the tracking information. This was responded to, pointing out a second time that the delivery times were available in the product listings, and also that tracking is provided upon departure.

Another email (#5) was sent on 7/21, acknowledging the information you were provided. It also appears that you just wanted to clarify that everything will depart together. We replied to confirm this, and pointed out that you selected pre-painting for one of the items.

The 6th email came in the next day, where you again acknowledged the information provided. In our reply, we went on to further explain about the demand in the market and the reason for a delivery time in the form of a range.

And in the last email (also the 22nd), you stated that you did not understand what the "product listing" meant, and in regard to the delivery time. This was replied to on the same day, informing you that it is the length of time shown in the product listing where the item was purchased.

After 6 days, we went through 7 emails--all responded to within 12 hours. At this point, you had not indicated any concern for the order and exhibited no agitation for that matter. However, on the 24th, you posted this on no less than 2 different forums. On one, we even went ahead and took a screen shot of what was discussed in multiple emails from the conversation back and forth.

The entire order was shipped on the 25th after the painted item was completed at the paint shop and passed inspection. Everything arrived well within the delivery timeframe that should have been expected. So with that said, what exactly is the reason for being "A very currently very unhappy customer"?

On the contrary, as evidenced above, we communicated quite well with you. At no time did you "complain" to us either. For some reason, you decided to do that on public forums instead of expressing any concerns to us directly. If we really had to explain things yet again, then I guess we could have done so.

Whoa , defensive,
Let's clarify, yes you answered daily almost but with no info's from what I requested who was an estimated shipping date. You keep referring me to a section that would not help me to determine a shipping date...So yes I went on public forum.
If you cash my money within 10 minutes of my order then I should get an estimate shipping date don' t you think?

You never notified me of the shipping directly.
I did get the items on their way the day after I complained to pay pal and asking what do I need to do to cancel... Interesting isn' t it.?

Stating you shipped after item passed quality check make me laughter... Do you want me to post picture of the paint job? White through the black and blue sparkly edge on a black diffuser.... , let's talk about the wheel caps all unglued from the center cap holder..... Come on guys, just do it right, when a customer pay, commit to a date, commit to the quality of the product.... Unless you just subcontract everything and have no control over your inventory and just are a middle man.
I was also unhappy to find out as I was ready to cancel my order that the same part ( deflector) with same exact picture showing was 25% cheaper at one of your competitor...
I guess next time I will do a better home work research before to order...

Wow... it is hard to believe this is still allowed to be going on... I feel like a mod should lock this as it is mostly only malicious sounding posts.

Just to reiterate from my past post... I have ordered from Import Shark several times. THe first time it took a little bit to get my stuff but after emailing them, I found out it was slightly delayed. No big deal. My second order went fine and I got my order right away. Then they did a price change on one of the items I bought (2 for $10 more than I paid for one) and I emailed them asking if it would be possible to pay the difference and get the second item (which was not available that way when I ordered a month or so before hand). They emailed me back right away and told me that it wouldn't be a problem and if I could get the payment to them by a certain time that day, they'd mail it out the same day. I got my item in the mail a few days later. I also had bought a HID light kit from them for $75. I didn't know to wire my kit on its own separate wiring harness, so when I turned on the lights, I blew a fuse. When I turned them on again, I blew a ballast. 6 months later I got around to emailing Import Shark about it. I explained what happened and that I knew the policy was a shorter amount of time for returns/warranties, but I was hoping they could get it fixed. They (Mike if I remember right) responded in a day or so and said it was no problem, gave me directions to follow for the return (none of this cost me any money... not even shipping) and a week later I had a new ballast.

Import Shark seems to mostly be a reseller. It is a business. Honestly, if you place an order and their supplier takes longer to send it, it is hard to blame Import Shark because they have as little control over that as you do with my driving my Genesis like a maniac all over the road. It sucks some of you had bad experiences, but it is hardly fair if you speak poorly of a company you've never purchased from. It could have possibly been the best purchase experience you've ever had, had you purchased from them. If you're not sure about them but want something bigger that they offer, why not write to them and talk to them about it? See if it is on backorder and/or how long it will take. On top of that, if you don't want to trust your larger amounts of money right away, begin by buying something smaller and use that to help gauge what you think. A lot of people seem to write hateful/mean/"I want my money back" letters right away. Hopefully nobody on here is like that and everyone understands that it is fair for them to look into what happened. A little patience goes a long way. Obviously, there are some who say they've never been responded to... that would suck.

This is just a suggestion of course as well as my personal opinions/experience. I am sure all of you have validity in what you've said. It is just sad when I see my mailbox all the time and it rarely much more than someone else saying something bad about a company I had nothing but good experiences with.

STAY AWAY FROM IMPORT SHARK!!!!!
I used Import Shark to order the winged emblems for the Genesis coupe. The web page is confusing and misleading showing both emblems in the box and also the front AND back of the Genesis with the replacement emblems installed. After contacting the company by email his reply was "Uh, this is a joke, right?" (copied and pasted). After again emailing them and stating that NO it was NOT a joke and that it is unprofessional to answer a customer in that manner he replied....
"Well you purchased a "single emblem" and the product listing clearly describes what is included with each option. Not only that, but the use of singular and plural terminology in the listing is done on purpose specifically so that customers would know what they are purchasing. Since the information on the site is so blatantly obvious and concise, receiving an email like the one below could have only been a joke or it was written by a complete idiot. Thanks for clearing that up btw."
Again copied and pasted. This company is completely rude and should NEVER be used to do business with!!! I have protested my charges with PayPal and have filed for a refund. I wouldn't give this company 1 penny!!
 
Now he may have responded in a fairly unprofessional manner, but it is quite clear looking at the site what you're ordering IMO.
 
NO IMPORTSHARK IS NOT LEGIT!!!! They will sell you misrepresentated items and then basically say oh the parts vary.....Bullshit! I ordered pedal overlays that say Genesis on them in the pic on the website. It actually says LF Sport....WTF is that??? But I will open my dispute with PayPal to resolve this.
 
thank you guys very much for your reviews!! though i do not own a gensis, i have a 08 tiburon (which i believe was the precursor to the genesis) which i found parts for on import shark. it was the hana bumper, a famed and hard to find front bumper for the tiburon. i was ecstatic to find it online and was giddy to order it as soon as possible - especially since it is only 500 dollars online! however, i noticed there was only one, very shady review and extensive terms of agreement which seem to lock the buyer into something. after doing my research (on this forum) i’ve decided to NOT use import shark.

What's funny about your reply is that I HAVE emailed to ask about my grill, and you stopped responding - which is why I came here looking for input. I can PROVE that I've sent multiple emails (the most recent being on Monday), and would love to know why nobody could take a minute to respond.

I didn't order the Luxon grill, but I guess I can assume the problems with the grill I did order are the same...or at least similar. Fine, I've been patient, no biggie.

However, what frustrates me - besides the lack of communication - is that I was told on the 18th of Jan that the grill was shipping "tomorrow," and here I sit with no grill and no tracking info. Again, I emailed more than once to ask for tracking info if in fact it has shipped. I'm hardly asking for anything crazy...just a response to my inquiry about my order that you claim has already shipped.
I’ve had the same issue. I emailed and they ignored me. At this point I’m just going to call my bank and see if I can get my money back.
 
I googled "Is ImportShark legit" because the unsecure website and the painting service made me a bit uneasy and I'm glad I did.
The absolute disgusting customer service from this clown Mike would prevent me sending a cent to this pathetic two bit middle man even if I got the part tomorrow.
