  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
    If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone know if its possible to display an Iphone screen on the Genesis navigation screen? As a passenger is would be great to be able to display the tiny iphone display up on the genesis navigation screen (looking for hotels, gas or any other web data). Does any one make an adapter or have or work around to make this possible?

Does the iPhone have an analog video output port? If so (and it's probably on the same connector as the left and right analog audio) then it might display on the Genesis DIS/Nav screen. The "submini" jack (the round opening next to the Genesis iPod digital port) is left & right audio AND video. I've used the submini jack to display audio and video from a Canon digital camera. Select the "AUX" input on the DIS control panel and have any USB memory sticks unplugged for the iPhone to work. That's assuming the iPhone actually outputs all LCD info onto the video port; it might only display "movies" though - no menus. I don't know; I don't have/use iPods or iPhones or iAnything. If the iPhone owners manual say it can drive a TV or monitor screen then it should be able to drive the Genesis monitor; it's a standard NTSC (like the now-defunct analog TV in the US)

so your saying the 3.5mm jack is capable of video?
since there are no cables that go from the 30 pin iphone/ipod connector to a 3.5mm jack that supports VIDEO then all you would need is 2 cables...
1. one that goes from the 30 pin (standard ipod connector) to RCA's http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC748ZM/A?fnode=MTY1NDA0OQ&mco=MjAyNDIxNTg
2. and another goes from the RCA's (red, white, and YELLOW) to a 3.5mm [ame="http://www.amazon.com/5FT-Camcorder-Video-Cable-Sony/dp/B003V74ORE/ref=pd_sim_sbs_e_5"]http://www.amazon.com/5FT-Camcorder-Video-Cable-Sony/dp/B003V74ORE/ref=pd_sim_sbs_e_5[/ame]

correct me if im wrong of if this might actually work?

Yup, the 3.5mm jack uses a plug that has the "tip" connector plus 3 more contact rings:
tip = left audio
next = right audio
next = video
last (adjacent to body of cable) = ground

Check the thread at description of AUX inputs for ATSC TV tuners where we first figured out the AUX capabilities. There are links for cables that adapt the Genesis port to plain old RCA cables.
