  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

is the AC Weak in the 2012 Genesis?

At the dealer now. They will put a thermometer and check vs. specs and also do a leak test. Will update after, but I am feeling this is "normal" performance for this car.
I don't have a sunroof.
Again, folks, I change cars every two years and have lived in warm climates for 45 yrs. I have used everything in the past from front windshield expensive insulated shades, to even full car covers. This is not my issue, the car just has weak AC in comparison to most other newish cars. I was just looking to see if others had a similar issue or if my car was an anomaly. From the comments it is obvious the AC is not the best part of the Genesis as others have similar experiences to mine.
As to my "rudeness" and "lower class of human" comments, ok whatever. You stay up in your pedestal dispensing your "wisdom". I'll pass on the idiotic comments of the sort, the sun shines on the car, the car is hot, lower the windows to exhaust the hot air. Really? Wow thanks for iluminating us on that point, it would have never ocurred to anyone. No wonder this country is in the downward slide it is.

Hi all - I am new to this group and wanted to share what's going on with my 2012 4.6 Genesis. I also live in Florida and have had several different makes and models of cars. I recently noticed the air, randomly during the day, getting warm when sitting idle at red lights. The first trip to the STEALER, I mean DEALER:

"CHECKED A/C SYSTEM FOR LEAKS, NO LEAKS FOUND. EVAC A/C SYSTEM. RECOVERED 1.37lbs OF FREON, PUT A/C SYSTEM IN A VACUMN FOR 20 MIN. AND RECHARGED A/C SYSTEM. RETEST A/C SYSTEM PERFORMANCE, A/C BLOWING 42 DEGREES AT IDLE"

It was dark when I picked up my car and I thought it was okay. However, when I get in the car to go to work in the morning the issue was not resolved. I notified them right away and told them I travel for work and would set up another appointment in a few weeks. The second trip to the STEALER, I mean DEALER:

"CUSTOMER CAME IN PREVIOSLY FOR THIS CONCERN, A/C STILL BLOWING WARM AIR WHEN VEHICLE IS STOPPED -- NEEDS A/C CONDENSER"

They are telling me a rock went through the grill of my car and damaged my condenser and will not be covered under warranty. They want $478.00 for parts and $300.00 for labor. I was going to to take in for a second onion tomorrow. I honestly find it very hard to believe a rock would do that.....

And to make things worst, my car's A/C went from not working correctly to not working at all and the dirty cabin filter sitting on the floor of my car.

What do you guys think?????

I still have a warranty on my car........

I too took mine in to the dealer, under warranty and they just evac the system recharged and said its good.

What I have determined the compressor really needs to be running about 2000 rpms or higher to put out cold air.

Rock damage to the AC condenser is not covered by anybody's warranty. You've got to suck it up and pay the freight. Perhaps you can get an AC shop to do the work for less. Get a quote.

Thanks this is similar to what I experience. Very slow fan speed spool up then it has to run at full blast for at least 5 minutes before I can get enough cooling. This if i the car is moving. If stopped, I feel the cabin heating again up and the AC not cooling at a good efficiency.
I
Again we are talking 90-95F degree outside t

.

Similar to your experience?

I am so sorry the time stamp is 2012 so you probably got your answer already. I have a 2010 and the same very thing happens, matter of fact I drove straight to the dealer and told them about it. The car came back after an hour or two! It was as it was before. He said he also has the V8 and says his exhibits the same. Every body that I know that has one has the same complaint. I don't know who runs this website, but I just got a notification that someone just posted an update on the link I am following —— hello three years later, go figure.

Oh hell no.

We bought our '12 in June of '11, and lived in SE Arizona at the time. That AC blows cold for sure. Even in a very DRY environment, it worked admirably well. During the more humid monsoon season, even more so.

I moved the car with me to Central Ohio a couple of years ago, and again, it works well. If this car lacked ANY cooling capability, my wife would not have it. Anyways, it works fine.

I live in SoFL had the 2012 V6 Genesis for 9 months. My car is tinted a bit darker than the legal limit. Since the start I have felt the AC is a bit weak when the temperature gets past 90F.
Seems I have to put it to recirculate and it blows on high for a while but the air that comes out is not all that cold. Eventually it does cool the cabin.

I am up for maintenance so I would appreciate to hear from others in warm climates if their AC is weak also, or maybe I have a localized problem with my car?

Thanks,

I don't know if I'd call it "weak", but I certainly wouldn't try to chill beer with it. I've seen stronger A/C systems, that got up to speed with the cold air much quicker.
