  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

every now and then I would feel a thunk in the steering wheel column when I wasn't driving. Normally it was getting into the car, or reaching around the wheel.

The way I was able to reliably reproduce it is to grab the wheel at 3 and 9 o'clock and slightly pull forward on one and push back on the other.

Could I ask a favor of other 2015 owners that have the automatic steering column? will you do the same as I described above and let me know if this happens on your cars as well?
If it is something I have to live with for the next few years, I can manage. I just don't want to waste most of a day going to the dealer and waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting, only to be told it was normal.

Thank you everyone

John

Just tried your test on mine, and do get a slight noise. Now on my third Hyundai with the auto steering wheel (2007 Veracruz Ltd, 2012 Genesis 3.8 and 2015 Genesis Ultimate) and never noticed, or ever had a problem. I'm pretty anal about my cars, so I don't think I would worry.

This could be due to the haptic feedback option of the steering wheel which may create this play in the wheel.

I have also noticed this once in a while but not enough to raise any concern
