  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is this the craziest question ever???

Are the B Pillars supposed to be a matte black or a shiny black?

Or something else?

I know this has to be just stoopid, but, I'm trying to totally detail my 4 y/o Genny and since I bought it used, I just don't know the answer.

BTW, it's a 2010 if that matters.

2010 is matte Black. Its actually wrapped in a matte black vinyl. I had to replace one piece because of a ding it got in it. It was only a few dollars at the dealer.

I used a vinyl cleaner (ArmorAll, etc) on my 2009 B-Pillar to make it look a bit better.

How does this piece come off, or what is the best method to remove? Heat gun? I have one that has a few small dents.

The original finish is closer to flat black.
I’ve seen on this site, cars with shining black pillars and chrome (Stainless Steel) pillars. I used Stainless Steel to change the pillars from flat black to a chrome trim look.
I think what you do with the pillars is a personal choice and depends in the color of the car and what other accents you have added to the car. I did chrome wheels and a chrome door strip, so IMPO
I think chrome pillar accents on the pillars carries the theme with the rest of the mods.
Check out my album for some pictures showing the pillars with the chrome accent.

The door panel and trim has to be removed then I used a hair dryer for the heat. The new piece comes precut to fit and fold into place. Took me about an hour from start to finish. I did not completely remove the door panel, I just took it loose enough to do the job.

Why does the door panel have to be removed if this piece is on the exterior?
