  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Issues/problems with the G70

Just had these three error messages come up. Odd.
Make sure there is nothing blocking the sensor(s) in front of the car. I had a Tucson where I got the same message and they had to replace the main sensor, which was covered under warranty but it was a steep $2K USD.

There we go. Must be the 1st G70 with so many problems.

Paint peeling. I was told it happens on some new cars during assembly as its on the bumper, not metal parts.

I don't agree but oh well20190502_094110.webp20190502_094108.webp20190502_093718.webp

I have not heard of this anywhere in Canada or USA. From extreme heat to extreme cold.

Your dealer f'd the car up (or during transport) and I would demand they repair it. Pathetic.

Just elevate your complaint to Genesis USA. Your bumper paint problem is covered under the warranty.
This is from the G70 warranty manual,
PAINT
Paint repairs are covered for the first 3 years from the date of original retail delivery or date of first use or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first. Some minor cosmetic imperfections that are visible at delivery are covered for 1 year from the date of original retail delivery or date of first use, or 12,000 miles, whichever occurs first.

I wish Gensis USA can help out. But I believe I am stuck with dealerships in UAE and will only be able to find a solution with the Gensis in the UAE.

If they care about building the brand at all, I'm sure they will take care of it for you. For a fledgling luxury brand that is touting amazing customer service as their distinguishing factor, it is very important that they don't tarnish that reputation before it is established

I sincerely hope so.

Does anyone have the all-weather "rubber" mats? I live in CA...but usually like the way they look in other cars....VW and Mazda in particular. just concerned if the quality is cheap they may cause dust as they wear,

They look fine to me. One gripe is that they cover up the dead pedal, so you can't see the stainless steel finish.

As far as the quality, only time will tell really, but I'm not seeing any premature wear just yet

Can you trim it without it looking hacked up?

I'll take a look after work, but I'd imagine you can't unless you wanted to try to burn the edge to seal it or something

Looks like you can trim them. The material is a board like structure. Rather stiff, so I don't think it will look frayed

I am one of those with the headliner noise issue. May 2018 build date. Alcantera cream in the Design Edition. I took the car in for the stitching coming loose on the steering wheel. Was that way when I bought it and they just replaced the entire steering wheel. The roof popping noise comes from the front passenger side and the high-pitched rubbing noise next to my left ear when driving easily around 30-45 mph. They could replicate the rubbing noise, but the popping noise become extemely consistent when outside temperatures rise. See the attached repair form. There is already a "kit" available for this issue. Sadly to report, with temps near the 90 degree F, the noise is back and louder than ever. They had the car for 3 days before trying to fix the issue. Going back in again. At least they are working to resolve the issue and have placed me in a Genesis loaner each time. I've owned other first model year cars, and if these are the only issues, I'm extremely happy. Genesis of Louisville has been extremely accommodating, especially having a new brand under the Hyundai roof. If they can't get it right after 3-4 tries, who knows, maybe a new ride or they'll turn the other cheek to the mods I'm planning.20162

Bought a Dynamic Edition today and there are several issues in the paint, clear coat, and chips on the roof. I am really conflicted on keeping the car. Could return it and just hold out for 2020. At least then the car would be recently built, fresh of the line instead of sitting at the port for 1.5 years. Starting to think Havana Red just has weird issues as well. Another car on the lot had a door that was a completely darker red.

What state do you live in or place you bought from that you can return a car after you bought it?

Same here in the rear cover. Genesis USA is looking into how to get it fixed. F796B88B-689D-4F5C-A412-3C44ED93D948.webp

There was a poster a few months ago who mentioned that he was not getting a HR because of the color issues (and I think the poster worked for Hyundai); but then he said the color issues were "worked out." And, several posters on line have HR and no reported issues.

I think the issues the rep was talking about may have been in earlier builds of the G70. The special editions were the first off the like, mine had a build date in May 2018. The same dealer has another dynamic edition that has a color match issue on the door. However, they have a 2.0T Havana Red that was built in October I think and it was absolutely perfect.

It's a shame that they didn't pay a little more attention to detail when they started production. Fortunately for Genesis the overall package (especially price) is super enticing, but I think that last 10% (maybe more in some cases) could have made a huge difference.
