  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi folks,

I jumped from a 2012 Sonata 2.0T SE to a 2012 Genesis R-spec a couple days ago. The deal was just too good to pass up.

I'll be snooping around here looking for accessory ideals and whatnot.

So just saying 'Hello' to the group.

Congrats and welcome to the "darkside".

How would you compare the acceleration between the two?

Welcome:) My wife has a 2.0T Optima SX which is pretty nice to play with. The FWD ruins the car IMO.

Love the Genesis still after 5 years.

That's what I was concerned with. More power to the wheels with a FWD vs RWD car, but traction usually suffers.

Yeah. She's runnin' the Conti DWS tires and can light 'em up even in warm temps (summer) if WOT is at 25mph going straight. Fun as hell once moving though, and a great highway passer and onramp fun:) That turbo loves the cold air of winter and pulls very hard this time of year.

The Sonata SE Turbo is no slouch when it comes to accelerating. Once the boost is going; it goes for a 2.0 liter. I never had any issues with traction from the FWD or weird handling issues at WOT.

The R-spec has a more linear power curve. Once you're in the power band, it accelerates nicely also. Not too sure about that 8-speed tranny. Still working with it.

Neither have the brutal acceleration of a tuned supercharged 5.4 engine. My Ford F-150 "Harley-Davidson Edition" would leave them both wondering WTF just happened!? Even with an additional 1800 lbs to get moving! Then again, even though it produces 405 horsepower on the dyno, it make over 560 foot pounds of torque (which gets it moving). That's at the rear wheels! Not the crankshaft (where manufacturers like to measure performance numbers).

If there was a good aftermarket twin-turbo or twin-screw S/C package for the R-spec. It would be a nasty street sleeper.
