  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

June (Canada) Sales

I had that same issue, but then when I was comparing it against a comparable 340 or AMG C43 I was coming to about $15K less. So I was ok with the fixed pricing!
You are probably saving more than that. Spec out each of those cars to the identical options...including paint since they up-charge on some colors. On top of that...make sure you tack on their comparable maintenance free plan for 3 years. I bet you get up to $20k CAD (if not more) savings.

^ Doesn't seem to have caught on yet.

Canadian Genesis sales for July - 135.

Don't have the breakdown yet, but figure that the G70 was the bulk of those sales (somewhere btwn 100-110).

Maybe the problem is the lack of more Genesis boutiques?

How many are currently up and running in Canada? 5-6?

There are at least that many just in the greater Toronto area, so Canada wide I'd maybe guess 20-25?

Probably right, while I did spec them out with similar options, I didn't compare the maintenance. I feel like I got a great deal for the car I got, without having to go through the haggling ...

So I just went on the Canadian site...and built one out...including 3-yr main ($1k). Got it to $72,629. So ~$15k diff...you were spot on. Surprised actually...thought it would be way more.

I am in SHOCK how much more the C63 S is. $18k more !!! Shaves off 0.7 seconds. WTF? What are you paying for?!?!?!

On top of that, dealers here tend to add a LOT more. When I had a Volvo S60 priced out the additional dealer charges more than doubled what the Freight/PDI charges were as listed on their website. They even added in $95 for a tank of gas!

And on the C63 ... you're paying for the little symbol on the hood IMHO. It's a great car, but you pay a lot for the brand name.

Yes, you will not pay the build price on the website, i took my c43 build to a dealer and they add charges on top,

Just wait for the SUV's to come (GV70) and women with their knock off Gucci bags and Red Bottoms will flock. Numbers will boom. I would consider one for the lady if it gets the 3.3TT or even the 5.0. Time will tell.

Typical charges to watch out for when you get to a traditional dealership:
  • Delivery and destination/freight and PDI (nothing wrong with this but sometimes build and price doesn't show this unless you look for the fine print or check a box so be mindful of this)
  • Administration Fee
  • "Dealer Preparation Fee"
  • Dealer-installed add-ons
  • Insurance policies
  • Market Adjustment (for "limited edition" models)
That is what I love about the Genesis purchasing experience here in Canada. There are no hidden charges and everything is 100% transparent with the online purchasing system on Genesis at Home.

That's what we here in Edmonton are waiting for. We have some of the coldest winters in Canada so people here love their SUVs.

A good strategy is to request, at the outset, that all figures you're given be inclusive, out-the-door prices. They can break that down, and that's actually helpful. But the rub is when you've zeroed in on a price only to find that there are a bunch of add-ons that weren't included. At this point, you've decided on the car, typically, and you're at a substantial negotiating disadvantage. If every figure they give you along the way is the out-the-door price, you can make a more informed decision and they may be a bit more reluctant to keep adding in all of those extraneous costs. Delivery, of course, is a necessary cost. Some modest administrative fee is reasonable. Anything else is dodgy, in my judgment. And it's all subject to negotiation.

I much prefer a salesperson who is straight with me from the get-go and I'm less likely to fight tooth and nail for every last dollar if I feel that he or she is forthcoming. Make it a game, and I'll play hard, even though I'd rather not get into it at all.

Lol that’s an understatement! I remember my first trip to Edmonton about 10 or 15 years ago seeing all the public car lots with electrical outlets thinking “wow this is a really progressive town being prepared for electric cars like that“!

...SUVs and their perceived advantages in the winter.

You Sir, are informed. Perceived is a great word to use for what the general public thinks of SUVs. An AWD sedan, even an AWD coupe, has almost entirely the same capabilities as an SUV, hold the ground clearance for some. When it comes to cargo space and traveling, SUVs are a more compelling choice.

I get the overall advantages of having an SUV, but to say they are needed for winter is purely propaganda. Our Genesis, G70, G80, and Stinger (AWD models of course) are perfectly fine for winter.

Personally I have always craved an R S4 Avant. Drooooooool.

Speaking of wagons, whatcha think of the Sport Turismo?

Love the Sport Turismo but if I was gonna pony up for a Porsche it would definitely be a 991.2 GT3 manual.
