If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. So today, I took my wife's Audi Q5 for an oil change.
while there, i test drove a new A6 with 3.0 supercharged engine.
I couldn't believe how quiet and smooth the V6 was, probably smoother than the Genny V8. I thought a good V8 was inherently better balanced than a V6, so I don't know how this is possible. Audi did a great job.

On the freeway, the A6 seemed a bit quieter too. And the ride was more compliant over bumps too.
MSRP was around $55k with the premium plus package including nav, so I guess it's not a surprise that it's better than the Genny.

Audis are nice! Just get the extended warranty if you get one..

Audi's, as stated by the Top Gear BBC guys, are built with a lot of high quality materials and parts, and all Audi has to do now is figure out how to make those materials and parts stay together.

The '13 A6 requires premium fuel and puts out 310hp. That's not better in my book. Out the door, my 3.8 was just over $36,000. Now that's what I call better.

drive the audi before you bash it

I had a 2001 Audi A4. The car was very nice but one time trying to do a brake job on it I knew I'd never want to work on it again. It was super expensive at the shop as well. Had a lot of issues with it and the car was only 4 years old at the time.

The A6 is a nice car but there are a lot of things about it that don't warrant the massive price tag. Certain Interior pieces came straight from the VW parts bin. It gets a pass in a 38k Hyundai but not in a 55k Audi.

I like the engine and tranny in the A6. The steering is way over boosted and the brakes made noise on the test drive. Also the styling is not for me at all, it looks way too similar to the A4, and certain things in the cabin were a huge disappointment. The side bolster and behind the seat are vinyl with flimsy nets. Yes, it's a high wear area, but I want a full leather seat, let me decide if I put Lexol on the seat or not. The arm rest and cup holder area looks like it came off a VW Jetta. The killer is the pop up nav. It is utter insanity. OK, say you put it away cause you don't want to look at it. When you throw your car in reverse, it pops up automatically, engaging the back up camera. If you're trying to attempt to get out of a parking spot and have to drive forward and back a couple times the pop up screen, does the same dance, goes up when you reverse, down when you engage drive, and so on.

Not a stitch on the door, all rubber, plastic and vinyl:

Compare that to a 5 series BMW:

Even a Genesis makes a better attempt:

I've driven the S5 Convertible (twin turbo V6) and the V8 S5 coupe, so like I said... They're very nice cars. But there's no way I'd buy one without an extended warranty. Actually, with the proliferation of electronics and computers in cars now, I'll probably buy an extended warranty from here on out no matter what vehicle I get. In my Genesis I've already had the auto-hold, the front parking assist sensors, and the backup camera go south on me.

the s5 cabriolet is a SC 6cyl not twin turbo (older s4's had the tt 6cyl), but i completely agree about the x warranty. my 2006 v8 s4 cab lost compression and had cylinder scoring at 75k miles which led to the rspec purchase. sure did make you feel special cruising with the top down though. a tune and an exhaust will put the sc 6cyl a6 or s series audi's over 420hp with very limited nanny control. the r-spec is still a fine looking car though, especially for its price

The C7 A6 was introduced in Fall of 2011 as a 2012 model. Only changes for 2013 model are minor except for Start Stop technology. The seats they offer in Europe are not offered in USA. The picture listed is a European model.

A8 and S8 ownership experiences prompted me to write the following post.

German car ownership takes some intestinal fortitude.

I am not a fan of Audi, however my BMW and Mercedes have been fairly good cars. That said the Hyundai Genesis has lower cost upkeep and the interior materials are a higher quality than the Merc IMO.

Ah I stand corrected. It sure felt strong though when I drove it, very close to the V8 coupe version I drove of another friend a few months later. My friend who drives the V8 version tells me he gets under 300 miles to a tank of petrol though, so maybe there's something to this forced induction thing :-).

Audi has come a long way. I am not in need of AWD, so I've never been partial to them.

yeah, it's tempting to compare the 333 HP of the 3.8 to the 310 HP of the Audi supercharged 3.0, but in reality, the Audi is much stronger, mostly due to the higher output (both HP and torque) at lower RPM.
0-60 for the Audi is around 5.1 s, so it's faster than the Genny 4.6, and it certainly felt a bit faster when I test drove the A6.

according to Consumer Reports, which has considerable data from many owners, the Audi A6 has been as reliable as the other German cars like the E class and 5 series, which is to say, they are all below average in reliability.
most problems seem to be from the audio system. i know some people here have had issue with the Lexicon, but apparently the Audi/MB/BMW owners have had it worse.

for overall reliability, our Genesis does better, getting average to above average.
at the top, however, is Lexus, with much above average for their ES and LS.

my own experience with Audi and BMW have been pretty good, just a couple minor issues.
our Lexus ES had not had any problems.
