  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Yes, you have the Base Trim model, which has been the most reliable Genesis so far.

Stock intake is fine. If you want a little more power, use at least 1/3 premium gas and 2/3 regular when you fill up.

Some engines respond very well to "mods" IMO the 3.8 wouldn't really fit this category.

Example an LS1 in the Camaro SS.. 5.7 with 345hp. Its a bit choked up so new heads or some changes here and there make big power.

Or a 3.8 making 333hp.. IMO its mostly tapped for power vs displacement. Its a well engineered engine in the sense that I think they squeezed every bit of power they could out of it.

Same story for the 385hp 4.6.

A well designed intake backed by a big aftermarket company(think AEM) may make some gains but they aren't making anything for the 3.8 or 4.6(should be a sign). So your left with cheap Chinese made(and designed) intakes with little to no engineering on ebay.

Short version is leave it alone.

Just adding to what the others have said, If this were a money-making engine set up, the aftermarket industry would be flooded with product. I am a fan of K&N drop-ins; drop it in and let it be.

The only way to get much more power out of the 3.8 V-6 is by some form of forced induction. That could be by way of Supercharging or Turbocharging with good results. Or if your looking for instant power for cheep you could also install a Nitrous Oxide system.
Remember, a engine is nothing but a air pump, the easier it is to get air in and out of the pump the more power it will produce. Bolt-on's work great on seriously underpowered engines but are rarely worth the money on a engine that has been optimized to work as efficiently as possible. As a example is the GM 3.8L V-6, same size as what you find in your Genesis, but it only makes 200HP. The supercharged version of the GM 3.8 made 240 HP, that engine had a ton of room for improvement and could easily be made to turn 300 HP with bolt-on's. Your Genesis is making 333 HP naturally aspirated on regular unleaded gas, there is not much improvement left in that, unless forced induction is used.
