  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Love the car, came from a 2014 C300. 3.8 AWD Ultimate. Car is white on black.

Couple of questions though:

1. Stereo seems to be lacking bass compared to the Benz stereo. Any recommendations?

2. Getting tint done this week as well as the new badge. Does Hyundai make a spoiler for the car? (roof or trunk lid) I saw a couple on ebay, but not sure if its a genuine hyundai part or not.

Thanks,

Congrats and welcome!! You got the best color!!

1. Weak bass is a common complaint; the only solution is to add an aftermarket sub
2. Likely not a genuine Hyundai part.

Nice! I am getting mine this week too. Canadian 3.8 HTRAC Lux package. Coming from Mercedes C350 4Matic.

I drove the Genesis and new 2015 C300/C400 Mercs back to back this past weekend. The Genesis is smoother, gets as good mileage on regular gas instead of premium, and is way more roomy/comfy, and has way more features. Killer deal. I suspect the next generation of the Genesis will costs substantially more once the word gets out.

What I did like about the Mercs were the user interface for the nav/radio etc. Canadian cars don't get the round controller unless you get the V8 I believe. Also, the Mercs have bigger trunks and fold down seats.

Edit... Oh yeah, the Mercs also had a BOOST feature while using Bluetooth to get the volume of my iPhone up to par. Made a huge difference in sound quality. Much better.

Congrats to all. And welcome.

Welcome aboard! Thank you for signing up and congratulations on your new Genesis Sedan!

I think you may be confusing lack of bass with extremely clear sound (and no "boominess") even at top volumes. A test for quality of a sound system is that you really can't tell how loud it really is when it is turned way up until you try to talk and realize that you can't even hear your own voice. When I crank it up in my Ultimate, a song with decent bass really vibrates the seats, that should be adequate for most people. If you still want more, I've read a few stories in here about added subwoofers, but apparently you need to have someone do the work that really knows what they are doing to properly tie in into the system.

Some people REALLY like the "feel" the music. I'm the same way but much more so when I was younger...

Thanks everyone. I have gotten used to the sound system. My MB was very boomy, but this system reminds me of the one I had in my LS460L.

This.

Too many confuse boominess w/ audio quality.

I like my bass, but too many people used to crap audio systems which artificially increase bass.

:welcome: aboard and congrats on your new ride.

I found that turning off the Surround Sound (as suggested by someone on here) improves the sound of the system. It seems to improve the clarity a fair amount. Has anyone else tried this and if so, what are your thoughts?

Yes, I also turned off surround sound. I think the sound is much better with it off!

Boy, it sounds like we need a "sticky" letting everyone know to turn down surround sound. Is this crazy or what? I wonder if it's like this will all automobile stereo systems. Or if, perhaps, some tweaking is needed here...

For a lot of music (not all), I think it sounds better with surround sound on. To each his own...

Since you have the Ultimate package, you have what CNET describes as follows: "Perhaps one of the best additions made by the Ultimate package is the Lexicon 17-speaker surround audio system. Sound quality falls somewhere between premium and audiophile, with excellent staging and separation and good power and clarity. It's almost worth the cost of Ultimate package by itself, just be sure to feed it high quality audio sources for maximum effect."

I've sampled the sound system and it was plenty bassy with great sound. Maybe listen to another Ultimate packaged Genesis to make sure yours isn't messed up. Otherwise, just get some god awful Beats headphones to fulfill your bass requirements. The Lexicon sound system is as good of a system one can get.

I have an extensive CD collection (500+) and find that some have superior quality and others are mediocre. When you get that high quality CD, this system is like none other I have every heard. You can hear every instrument distinctively. The bass is proud and comes on point with every beat.

I am thinking about buying a PONO system. It is suppose to have the Highest Resolution music. Has anyone on here picked this up yet? Wanted to make sure it is compatible to our Genesis...

Here is a letter from Neil Young who is involved with this system.

Pono means righteous. It is a Hawaiian word, the one, the pureness. On behalf of Pono, we thank you for helping us give music a voice. You have helped to set the stage for a revolution in music listening. Finally, quality enters the listening space so that we can all hear and feel what the artists created, the way they heard and felt it.

This is done when the artist makes the best available, wanting to share it with you. It happens when the artist lets you hear and feel more than what is on your CD or MP3 of any song. CDs and MP3s are derived from the original masters, and now, with the PonoPlayer, you can finally feel the master in all its glory, in its native resolution, CD quality or higher, the way the artist made it, exactly. That’s the beauty of Pono.

It’s been a long time coming. It was not easy getting this far, but you made it happen by supporting Pono’s vision for better listening. We have been working with the labels, with the artists and producers, and we will continue to do that. We go to the source to find the best and bring it to you. Pono wants to preserve the history of music, in all of its beauty and expression, for all time. Forever.

There is a way to do this right, and we are going to do it. We will be sharing how we will do this with you over the next few months, while we build your first ever PonoPlayers. We are going to do some revolutionary things. We will make music available in a way that has never been done, a way that allows for constantly attaining the best listening experience.

Thank you to the artists, the recording companies, big and small, and most of all, thanks to you music lovers for making this happen with your amazing support.

Thanks for listening,

Neil Young

and the PonoMusic Team

I've never heard of Pono...very interesting. I used to use MOG and continued using Beats Music after they acquired MOG. They have the highest quality music that you can get from a streaming/download service. I need to look in to Pono some more.

Also, you all with the Ultimate package need to pick up some DVD-Audio albums. Our sound systems REALLY shine with this format.

I've never heard of Pono...very interesting.

High res music is already available from places such as hdtracks.com. They have an extensive collection, downloadable in various formats (FLAC, AIFF, etc.). The Pono platform has not really taken off and is centered around an expensive player that was received tepidly. Prices for music appear the same as other sites.
