If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Good Afternoon Guys,

I just signed the papers on a 2010 Genesis 3.8 Sedan. She is a clean one owner, one carfax car with 160,000 miles. I gave $7000 for her ($7838 OTD). I drive ALOT and to say I am happy about getting into a car that is comfortable again (current ride is a Kia Soul which while fine car is not a highway car) is huge understatement. I took her on a very long test drive and was amazed that there was not one squeak, rattle, or thunk. Just smooth as glass from start to stop.. Very cool.

So I have a few questions I hope y'all can help me with.

1) Power window on pass rear is Inop, how hard is it to do this job (assuming its the motor)? any good write ups you can recommend on a how to?
2) The power door lock on the pass door does not seem to work, guessing bad actuator how hard is that to replace?
3) I don't have full service records (just what was on the carfax), assuming the transmission fluid has not been changed (which it may have) would you do it at 160,000?? It still shifts smooth as silk, so part of me wants to leave it be. The other part of me cringes at that thought. WHY, O WHY no dip stick !!
4) Also I noticed I can not stream VIA Bluetooth, and apparently this car was never able to (but my 2011 Kia soul can, figure that one out). Has anyone figured out a good way around this that does not take up the Aux jack?

Anything else I should know about these cars as I start my new ownership experience??

Thanks guys, I look forward to learning from you !

2) This is a common complaint. as the button wears out from pressing it too hard over an extended number of years. Can you use your Keyfob to unlock the door?

3) The 6-Speed Aisin transmission is not meant to be self-serviced, and there is no drain plug at the bottom. There is a plug near the top if you can suck out the fluid, or you will need to drop the pan. If you try this yourself, make absolutely sure you use the exact recommended fluid per the owners manual. If you have it done professionally, I would only have a Hyundai dealer do it. Both the fluid and the labor will be expensive at a dealer, but worth it if you want your transmission to last. Otherwise, I would just leave it alone if you can't afford a dealer tranny fluid change.

If you don't have an owners manual, register at www.myhyundai.com and download one.

2) Yes I tried the fob and had the same result, although I could swear I used the button to unlock the doors during the 1st part of the test drive?

3) I have access to my friend's garage/lift for the trans fluid exchange, but my question is with 160,000 should i just leave well enough alone? Are there any guys out there with high miles on the original fluid?

Odds are your problem is the switches and/or their contacts. If your handy with a meter it should be a relatively simple fix.

You really don't need a dipstick, transmissions don't use fluid and generally don't need much attention.
Because the transmission is shifting as smooth as you say, I'm guessing here that the TCU has already been updated.
As far as changing the fluid, if you've done anything like these or ZF's before it's pretty simple and straight forward but be sure to use the correct fluid. I would not do a flush but a simple drain and refill.
There are 3 Torx plugs, drain, overflow and fill all are pretty much self explanatory. They use a simple overflow system to check fluid level, easy peasy.
If you need a service manual for your car, send me an email or message and I will help you out.

I did the fluid in my old Prius one time, im guessing its about the same then? However dont the 3.8's have the Asian trans and not the ZF? Is it the same procedure? I PM'ed you my info. Thank you so much !!

Yes you have the Aisin trans, the drain and fill procedure is similar to the ZF's. Basically drain with the drain plug, take out the overflow plug and fill through the fill plug until it runs out the overflow and put the fill and overflow plugs back in. If they are the same as the ZF's and you are doing a trans filter I'm guessing the pan would need to be dropped to access the filter.
Looking through the fluid requirements it doesn't appear that yours uses SP-lll or SP-IV it is NWS-9638 T-5, whatever that is. Some dealers will tell you SP-IV is bacward compatible but I'm not so sure.
In the Hyundai TSB it states they are not interchangeable.
