I'm hoping someone might have some information about a problem I am having with my 2010 Track Edition concerning the key fobs.
When I picked up my car (500 miles from my home town), the salesman told me that they had misplaced the second fob for the car. He promissed to send me a new one as soon as it arrived and pay to have it programmed at my local dealership. No problem, right. Except that when it arrived and I took it in to have it programmed they told me that there was an issue with the Genesis Coupe that did not allow a fob that had once been programmed to be reprogrammed, and a second fob could not be programmed at a later date to match a first. The only option was to have two new "virgin" fobs and program them both at once.
My husband thought I had misunderstood the guy, I mean, that would be ridiculous, right. So he called my salesperson. the salesperson claimed to do some research, and called back to say that our dealership was mistaken. Ok, fine, we called the local service department manager, who did some research, and said no, that really was true. He tried a couple of work arounds that Hyundai Corp. gave him, but was not able to program the second fob. Upon calling the dealership I bought the car from I have now spent three phone calls hearing their service manager give me all sorts of bull shit stories and blame everyone else he can think of.
So, has anyone else ever heard of this problem? If so, any word on a fix? This wouldn't seem like a big deal, but the dealership I bought the car from is actually hinting that they might make me bring the car back to them (8 hours away, and the car is leased, so mileage is an issue) in order to get this corrected.
Gotta tell ya, I love that car, but I am not enjoying the dealership experience. Not enjoying to the point of never buying another Hyundai.
