  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Key fob question

My fob fell out my pocket and was on the cold garage floor over nite and would not work. Had to insert in into the slot. The next day after inside my home for 12 hours it worked perfectly. The lesson is not to let it get below frigid Temps for an extended time.

My 13 Tech doesn't have a slot. (mfg in Aug 13)

I thought it was in the glove box, or something.

For the ones that don't have a slot, you hold the keyfob up close to the start button. The slot is not a charger, it is just a way to get the keyfob very close in case the battery is too weak for it to work with it in your pocket.

I had to replace the battery in the fob for my wife's Sonata Limited. As stated above it started to lose it's effectiveness at locking and unlocking the doors at long range, once I noticed that I replaced the battery and it has worked great ever since. One thing about that battery, it is a common 2032 that can be bought for $1 for a 2 pack at any store, the dealer will charge you $11 for one.

Called Hyundai "Genesis and Equis" customer care. They said the dealership is only required to give out one key fob. What a joke. Until stuff like this is fixed Hyundai will not compete with Mercedes or BMW. I bet if I had bought a CPO C-Class Mercedes (I almost did) and complained to the dealership about getting one fob they would have given me another one free of charge to keep me as a customer. It's those little things like that Hyundai doesn't quite get. Or the fact that I had to buy my own Genesis floor mats off eBay.

I couldn't agree with you more.
