Hey guys here's the situation.
I have an '09 Genesis 4.6, and for some reason or another yesterday i left my set of keys in the driver's side door pocket and from the outside, i locked the door using the door handle button. I hadn't noticed that my keys were inside the car until this morning.
Now I'm guessing that for security reasons, after a moment's time the car does not award locking/unlocking action even if the key fob is near. (i know its different if the key fob was inserted into the slot in the middle-bottom of dash)
It's not too much of a biggy since my dad has the other set of keys and i will just use his physical key to open the door this evening, one day sans car is okay, but here are some questions:
- Is there a way to unlock the door even if the keys are inside? Maybe a trick that i don't know about like holding down the door handle lock/unlock button for 30 secs, etc.?
- how long does it take for the car to discontinue recognizing the key fob, so that it does not allow the doors to unlock even with the key fob being near?
- has this ever happened to any of you guys and how did you guys alleviate the situation?
Let me know guys, maybe there's something I can do before my dad gets here which will be very very late into the night.
GRACIAS
