  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anyone installed or thought about installing the Audi type headlight strips under their headlight housing? If you have, would it be too much trouble to see a snapshot of the effects?

I thought about it before I opted to install the Mercedes style "hockey stick" ones. I've gotten non-stop positive comments about them from total strangers to my dealer. I didn't want to drill any holes in my front end to accommodate the wiring which would be required for the strips. See attached photo.

Nice looking....do you have a write up on the installations?

This is a reply I sent to "Seattle Genesis": I purchased them on Ebay for $50. I have no video. All I did was use a Dremel type tool to remove the lower portion of the UPPER grill in the area I installed the LEDs because they are about 1/8 in. taller than the space available. I used 3M tape on the top and bottom to hold attach them. There are only two wires, to hookup. I coupled both reds and blacks together so I would only have run two wires rather than four to the power source. I grounded the black to a bolt on the passanger side of the radiator core support and ran the red back to the fuse box. I drilled a through to the inside in the lower right rear corner of the box. I installed the end of the wire under the windshield washer fuse. I chose the windshield washer fuse because it is only on when the ignition is on and is off otherwise. I had to shorten my reply by over 1600 characters to get it to fit in this post. If you want my long version, send me an email address.

I used the Plasmaglow strips that I purchased from AutoAnything. I put them between the headlight and the grille and ran them up over the top of the headlight. You have to peel back the rubber stripping that is on top of the headlights from the factory, but the rubber will just lay back down on top of the plasmaglows. The wiring goes under the rubber and tie wraps to the frame of the fenders then routes to the fuse box at the firewall on the passenger side. Tapped them into the wiper fuse and they go on and off with the ignition. Looks great day or night, with the headlights off or on. Not quite as bright as the Audi, Benz, 300c factory LEDs, but it is pretty close.

I haven't bought these but check Amazon.com's price before you buy anywhere else. Retail is about $50 and Amazon appears to be about half that. I learned a bit late on my X-Pel headlight protection laminate.
