  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'd like to have a conversation on what we know, what we "think we know" - and what we'd like to see - in regards to the next Hyundai Genesis Coupe. Please take a moment to chime in...

The concept pictures are gorgeous. Lots of speculation about the twin-turbo engine. That would be expensive, but if I start saving now, and wait out the first year while bugs are taken care of (yeah, right), maybe...

I like the idea of the 3.3 liter twin turbo V6 with 365 hp and 379 lb-ft of torque for the new Genesis Coupe. Especially if the rumors are true about the car being 100-150 lbs lighter than the first generation. That'll mean more horsepower, much more torque and less weight holding the car back.

There are also rumors of the 5.0 liter Tau V8 being used for an "N" performance version of the Coupe. However, the suspension may be to heavy - and that's what's holding back the idea of moving forward. Though if the twin turbo V6 is used, expect well over 400 horsepower...

At this point, there are too many rumors to take anything seriously, and whatever happens, it will be years from now. As you've indicated in a Sedan thread, the whole Genesis brand is up in the air, as I see it. I think it should be separated as it's own, like Lexus or Infinity, and that should include all the R-Spec cars Hyundai makes. Seems like they've been focusing more on Kia these days, though. So, by the time a new Coupe arrives, I might be interested, and I might jump ship. Can't tell right now.

The Genesis "brand" (or at least 'sub brand') is coming. Don't worry. They're not making a big deal about it but they have every intention of turning "Genesis" into a brand. Hyundai's products are coming closer and closer to top tier luxury brand products. And the only way to SELL at top tier prices is to offer a (much) higher level of service - and that's ONLY going to happen with brand-specific dealerships.

Anyway... If anyone wants to list a few of the rumors - that would be welcome for discussion...
