Little floor pedal stopper?

Hey guys, I noticed this the day I bought it, but I'm really getting annoyed by it now. When you "floor" the pedal, there's a piece of plastic stopping it from hitting the floor, has anyone removed this to see if it goes faster? I'm tired of being restricted and I feel like my 3.8l sedan should be going faster than it is. I'm not trying to reach full speed just 0-60 faster.

I'm sure Hyundai put that plastic there just so YOU would go slower.

My assumption here is that your throttle is electronic, not cable-driven, and the circuit is fully open at the point the pedal is stopped. I highly doubt they put a stopper under the pedal to prevent us from getting it's full performance. I'd say the stopper is more there to preserve the carpet and pedal pivot point than anything. Is it also possible, it's not a stopper and an electronic kick down switch? I know some fairly new cars still have those.

I figured out what it is, it's actually a pressure plate that I can use half my hp at full throttle or all, if I press hard enough it clicks and it uses the full engine power. Can't wait until the turbokits.com comes up with a turbo kit for the 3.8l sedan.

Yeah, I was going to say - that actually is a "go fast button". A little more pressure and it gets you past the detent and then really shoves, and quite nicely. But don't bank on seeing a turbo come available for this engine.

I've had the pedals out and the plastic "stopper" I believe you are referring to is actually part of the pedal housing. Many pics of accelerator pedal here:

Ok, so a kick-down. Got it. Makes sense. I don't believe it's a power-controller so much as a transmission kick down.

Yeah I got an email from turbokits.com and they said its one of their projects to make a turbo kit for the sedan.
