  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Loaded 3.8 vs Loaded 5.0 Genesis

...it will never be as good as the AWD when the conditions are bad, just like the 3.8 will never be as quick as the 5.0. However, in both cases, whether or not the differences are meaningful will be a personal call.

Personal preference can be applied to everything obviously. I reside in New England and last winter we received ALOT of snow. Like I previously mentioned, I was able to get through the snow no problem with the Blizzak Tires. Not once did I wish I had AWD while driving in the snow. Come the nice weather, I'm glad I have the 5.0.

However until I find out about an upgrade guaranty for Apple car play I may hold off. Then again I may just fall in love with the 5.0 and by it on the spot.

I also held off somewhat waiting in part for CarPlay. Then as I looked at it more, I figured I could live without it worse case, as I do not like plugging in my phone each time when in the car. I also wanted to catch the best buying time before the assumed little changed 2016's were here and was also concerned about projected rising interest rates and less aggressive lease terms.

I once had a similar situation when I ordered my previous 2011 BMW M3. I held off the already placed order to stall for new option 6NR, which was being added mid cycle and offered "BMW Connected Apps". I had to slip several order weeks to make sure I got it as it came available in production. After all that, I hardly ever used it and it was offered as a software upgrade months later anyway.

I can see why AWD would be great to have in NJ, but here in Florida it's hardly necessary, especially at the expense of more weight and poorer fuel mileage. You're right, it's a personal call...

Agreed, though AWD provides awesome grip in rain and on dry roads as well. But the heated steering wheel and rear seats that are awesome in the NJ winter would be of little benefit in Florida as well!

Every five to ten years we get a couple of really cold days. What we really need are some rear cooled seats. Three zone AC would be great here too.

Also remember the 3.8 V6 does have 311 horses, its not like its got no power. I'm very happy with the power of the car and rarely wish for more, maybe I would never wish for more with the V8 but I can deal with the every once in a while easy enough. Not to mention I love the heated steering wheel and my son would be very disappointed with no rear heated seats. I've already added the light up sills and have the fog lights ready to go when I get some free time.

I can't understand someone who plunks down $50,000 on a car is worried about a few hundred dollars a year in extra gas costs when comparing engines. If you are driving so much that fuel consumption differences add up considerably then maybe a different type of car would be better suited for you. I do understand the not being able to have AWD and therefor having no choice going with the V6. Personally I would have gone V6 if this were the case in Canada.

Here's the thing gas price is different from state to state. Here in NYC is high , 93 right now cost $3.30-$3.40. I'm getting 220 per tank less then a week of driving. As much as a like the extra power from the v8 getting the v6 is a better choice in my situation. In the end is a personal preference I rather spend that extra 5k plus gas on something else. But ultimately my decision came down not much on the cost ratio but on been satisfied with the v6. Let's not forget the v6 has plenty of power

In my case, I wanted to be able to go further between fill-ups on long trips from FL to NY. The reduced curb weight was an added bonus. It helps that I already have a 6.0 L V8 in my G8 GT with a cold air intake, catback, and an engine/transmission tune.
