  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I had my rear bumper replaced after a minor rear end collision and now my trunk won't unlock when the car doors are locked and I have the key fob in my pocket and try to use the soft pad on lip of trunk lid with my hand. Somebody on the forum told me the bumper mounted antenna may be broke or disconnected. Can any body tell me the location of this antenna so I can look at it and see if it's even there?
Thanks for the help.
Before any of you suggest this...I'm aware of the valet switch in the glove box :-)
This is on my 2012 5.0 RSPEC

Will the trunk open using the soft pad of trunk lid when the car doors are unlocked?

Yes, we know all about this from your duplicate posting.

Yes, it does. When doors are locked is when it won't work. Works fine when doors are unlocked.

I don't think this is a duplicate....after asking how the system should work, I'm now asking where the antenna is to make it work. If I'm wrong, I apologize but I don't think I am.

The rear bumper must be removed to access the antenna. Go to www.hmaservice.com and sign up (free) and then you can view/print to PDF the body electrical chapter for your model (BH is the Genesis sedan model code) and model year. That has the procedure and pictures. The antenna itself is mounted to the car and covered by the bumper assembly.

Per what you stated above, the shop that did the repair to your car is responsible for completing the job so everything works. Take it back to the shop and tell them to complete their work at no charge because you expected quality work from them. Messing with it yourself is ridiculous.

Thanks for the info guys. I've taken it to the body shop and they thought they had it put together right BUT, I don't think they are aware of the antenna, I sure wasn't. I'm sure they will make it right, they've been great to work with and told us that if they screwed something up, they will correct it. Again, I appreciate the help. That goes double for you mike since you made me aware of the antenna in the first place.
