  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've noticed that lately when I lock the car the turn signal lights and sound don't activate. The vehicle locks fine but no noise or lights. Unlock lights and sound activate.

Lock noise is turned on in vehicle settings...
Any thoughts?

turn it off in vehicle settings...and then turn it on again and see if that works
Maybe just an electrical glitch

So I think I have narrowed down the potential problem. The car is not arming the alarm. If the alarm works, the car chirps once and the turn signals flash once being armed. My alarm is not arming. Looking in the Genesis forums this happens from the hood switch not engaging, basically the car thinks the hood is not closed. I have checked all the door switches and they seem to work but do not know where the hood switch is located. It's not where the Genesis has its switch. There really doesn't seem anywhere that would be pressed once the hood is closed. Not sure what avenue to head at this point.

Look along the side of the hood, driver's side. About half way between the windshield end and front end of the hood is a rubber bumper, it presses on a switch with a rubber boot. The switch is mounted to the inside of the fender area and surrounded by that under-hood plastic covering stuff. It's common for the rubber bumper to be missing - there's a TSB about it being missing and/or too short for the early model year cars. That results in no alarm ('cause the car thinks the hood is open as you surmised) and a battery that drains quickly because a lot of the electronics in the car - especially the entertainment system - stay in "standby" mode instead of fully shutting down.

Note: there are much larger bumpers in the front corners of the hood to keep it from vibrating while driving... ignore these. The alarm one is about half to three-quarters of an inch in diameter. It sort-of screws into the hood metal and can unscrew too --> falls out. The pushbutton switch pressed by this bumper has electrical continuity with the hood open, and no continuity with the hood closed... ergo unplugging the wire connector from the switch simulates a closed hood and should allow the alarm to ARM properly until you can get the bumper/switch fixed properly.

good information

I assume as a checkpoint that if the red light on the dash didnt blink when the car was locked then you have some contact issues somewhere

Mike I do not see anywhere under the hood of an equus along the fender line where a switch is located. The entire engine bay is covered by the plastic shroud. I know on the Genesis models there is an actual switch that is pressed but do not see anything close to that on an equus. If I google search "equus hood sensor/switch" I find a picture showing a possible switch located where the hood latch is located but I can't confirm that without taking apart the front end of my vehicle.

OP, you might want to change your User Profile to reflect that you own an Equus. You might consider posting in the Equus forum too.

Where is your second key? I had a similar problem until I found the second (credit card style) key.

It could be in your glove box buried in the user manual pouch.

If it is, take it out and keep the key in your house. If this is not your problem I can't help out.
