If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Looking at a 2011 3.8 Genesis Sedan. Local dealer has come down to 35.9k and 37.6k OTD on a 2011 3.8 with the technology package. Car has 1k miles on it and was supposedly a loaner for the Equus owners. I was looking at a Genesis a while ago but decided to wait so idk how the pricing is for these. How does that sound pricing wise? Should I be able to get them lower? Love the car but not sure about already having 1000 miles on it.

If you really don't like having 1000 miles on it but want cheaper price, either

1) Wait few months (After New Years or so). Will drop quite significantly on pricing when calendar changes from 2011 to 2012.

2) Buy used/certified. At least you are paying less! Don't look at the odometer!

BTW 35.9k is not that much of price drop, actually dealer is trying to rip you off.(2011 currently gets $1500 rebate as well as $1000 off for financing with HMUSA)(Remember 2012 v6 tech goes 37-38k using truecar.com with rebates)
Take that $1000 off (financing discount)of the truecar.com price and now you see, they want you to pay outdated 2011 model for 2012 price!

After New years, loaner/new/used or not it is outdated model. Given that all new cars lose value significantly in one year via depreciation, haggle the price aggressively during Christmas/New years and you may get better deals (low 30k).

i got the 2011 V8 for 35,200 including rebates, brand new, no trade-in involved.
you should be able to get the V6 tech for a little over 33k.
i wouldn't wait until 2012, as the 2011s might be all gone.

What packages did your 4.6 have?

Was going to be buying cash but may look at the financing discount. The price did include the Competitive owner discount. I have sent out some emails to local dealers to get some other prices.

2011 v8 comes only with tech. No option pkg. needed.

What city/state are you from?

That doesn't sound like that good of a deal to me. It's not horrible though.

I cannot comment on the price of the car but i can suggest two things. The first is to sign up for a Motozuma account. You need to have the account open for 30 days before you can use it. If you decide to buy now it will not do you any good but if you decide to wait then you get an extra $500 off. You dont have to put any money into it until the 29th day if you choose to. The second would be to finance. Even if you are going to pay it off finance for one month just to take advantage of the $1,000 cash back through Hyundai Finance that the 2011's have. Just make sure you ask if there is a penalty for paying the loan off early. If not then just pay it off after a month or so.

Thanks for all of the help! A few more details... the car isn't actually for me, it is for my parents. They are the ones that went to the dealer and talked them down and got the 35.9k price. I did my thing and started emailing dealers last night and already have one of them down to 33k and 34.7k otd with the comp. owner and financing incentives.
My main question is how do the current incentives compare with Hyundai's normal incentives? Would it be reasonable to expect to get a similar deal in a year or so or are these some of the best incentives in a while? My parents aren't in a huge hurry to buy, actually maybe prefer to wait a bit, but if they won't be able to get pricing like this again they have no problem jumping on it.

If I am not mistaken, the same incentive ran whole year and they will keep doing it until they out do Honda/Toyota in sales/brand recognition. $1000 off financing is just for 2011 models and pretty sure same thing will happen to 2012 model on mid next year.

since the 36 mo loan is at 0% interest, you wouldn't want to pay it off early.
keep the money in a savings acct earning 1% per year, and you would earn about $900 at the end of 3 yrs.

Found out the Genesis I was interested in has 4,000 miles on it  but did get them to come down some more.
I know the warranty date starts when you purchase the vehicle but what about mileage? For example if I purchased a new hyundai with 5,000 miles on it does the powertrain warranty run out at 100,000 miles or 105,000?

If its a CPO... it starts from the (original/first owner's) purchase date... Hyundai has that data documented via the VIN number.

This car is new and never titled. So is it total vehicle miles or total miles since titled?

My $.02:
Why not go with a 2012? Materially superior vehicle with more power, more gears, updated snout and tail, heated REAR seats, auto lane departure warning system, asymmetrical exhausts, little bit better mpg.

I agree. I really like the 333 hp V6, though the other features in the 2012 are inconsequential to me.

I might end up doing that. The cost will be significantly higher though I feel. I am guessing around 33k for 2011 3.8 with tech or 37k for 2012. Might just hold off and purchase a 2012 in a year or so, not in a hurry to purchase right now.

I would get the 2012. I test drove the 2011 V6 and V8. The 2012 V6 is better than both. It has a better ride, more power, and it is better looking.

After back to back drive of 2011 v8 and 2012 v6, I found that the v8 had better off the line acceleration, smoother engine, and the ride was not as bouncy as the v6. Yes, I checked the tire pressures in the v6 which was at 34 psi.

Two extra gears are inconsequential?

That's right. You gain 1 mpg but the reliability of this new tranny is unknown.
