- 2G Genesis Sedan (2015-2016)
Hey all, new to the forum though I've been looking a bit. I've narrowed down my car search entirely to a 2015/2016 Genesis with the Tech and Signature packages, not particularly picky about 5.0 vs 3.8 and will likely buy whichever one I find for the best deal. Seems I've picked a tough time to get serious about buying, though, as the amount of cars on the market is quite a bit less than 6-8 months ago when I first started looking. That being said, I've seen a few high mile 5.0s pop up lately and am curious what everyone's thoughts on buying a high mileage Genesis are? Particularly I've found a 150,000 mile 5.0 with the tech and signature package listed for $13,500 with an immaculate interior and a reasonably clean 1 owner Carfax. My gut is always that if the engine/transmission combination has made it 150,000 miles, it'll likely make it another 100,000 with very little issue assuming it's well taken care of, especially because the bulk of vehicles with that kind of mileage at 5 years old are going to have been largely highway miles. The flip side of that is that the rest of the car can still fall apart around the engine and transmission at that mileage which kind of makes the whole thing pointless and is why I wanted to post this and gauge everyone's thoughts on the car's reliability both engine/transmission wise as well as overall. Thanks!
