  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

A little about me. I am 26, 6 year in the Army, and will graduate college and commission as an OE-1 in May 2012. As a gift to myself I want to a new to me car. I currently drive a 2006 Mazda 3. I know I want to get a luxury car. I have looked at many different makes and models and nothing compares to the genesis. I am wanting to get a used 2010 V8 at the end of this year or beginning of next year.
Can anyone tell me what I should look for when buying a used genesis? Where would be the best place to find one? What price should I expect? What deals can be made when buying a used car?
Thank you for your comments or advice. Also I was wondering what you think about getting a V8 with the gas prices the way they are going? I am still debating on getting this car and want to pay no more than 30k. What would be your favorite, cheaper, alternative?

For the gas prices, I'd say there's not "enough" of a difference in mpg between the models to sway MY decision - you might think otherwise. Here's a quick and dirty estimate, assuming 15,000 miles and combined city/highway consumption:

GOOD LUCK, and thanks for your service!

If I recall correctly from Catch-22, an Oldsmobile outranks a Buick .;). I think you'll find that the Genesis outranks most of the cars you'll be likely to encounter. Congrats!

First, big thanks for serving our country. Looks like your having a great career. There are a lot of us veterans driving Genesis. I have a 2010 V8 with the tech package and love the car. This is what I would recommend. Basically with the tech package there are no other major options you need. I have had no problems with the car.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Thank you. What kind of warranty can I get when buying used? Is it as good as getting one new?
Just went to the local dealership today and they wouldn't let me test drive the genesis because I had already test drove it before and it was their show room car. What kind of bull is that? I have already decided on it though. I just have to find a good price. If I can get a 2010 V8 for under 30K, I would buy it now. I will probably have to wait till they start getting to that price. Hopefully by this time next year. I have to set a limit somewhere.

if you buy it certified used from a hyundai dealer, you get the certified warranty. If you buy it used from any other dealer or private property, the 5 year 50k comprehensive warranty transfers, the 10 yr 100k powertrain warranty does not.

The tranferrable comprehensive warranty is 5 year 60K.
