  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey guys,

New to the forum and looking for my first Genesis. There is a dealer that is about 40 miles from me with THREE new 2013 Genesis R-spec, still on their lot.

On the internet they have them listed for "internet" price of 32k and some change.

I wanted to get your feedback and see if you think they would take even less for them. They also have a few of the 2014 v6 on the lot as well.

Excited to be here and if I run across any other info I will post it up!

Thanks

That price is around the best you can get but since they've posted ti already you can try and negotiate down to $30K. I live in Louisiana and I couldn't find anything cheaper than $40K around me so I dished out a lot of money for mine.

That was the plan.. and then from there I do have a trade in... my overall goal is to have a payment under $400 and I was quoted around $140 a month for full coverage at 24 years old.

If I go in there do you think they can get me to that payment being that they have 2015's on the lot already.

Depends on your trade and credit. If you have $5K or more in equity with good credit, you should be at $400. If you are upside down you might want to sell your car yourself. Dealers give around 3K less than retail value on cars priced around $25K. Many factors can change that number.

32k alone is already a good price, but yeah you can definetly lower that down maybe to 30 plus your trade.

Genesis down here in Florida don't last at dealers, it's hard to find a 13 in the lot and if it were it would probably still be close to 40.

I got my 12 a couple month ago with 15k miles at 29k

After doing a trade in quote I am right at even in terms of trade in and what I owe. So I am assuming a private sale would be my best option?

So the dealership got back to me and the price was including rebates which ended yesterday. The price for the 13 R-Spec would be $34,792 without having to qualify for anything.

Any advice on how to open up negotiations to try and lower the price? The other 2 were loaners and have about 5-6 k and only are a few hundred less on the vehicle. The one he quoted me has under 300 miles currently.

Thanks guys!

Ive been looking for a 2013/2014 R Spec , would you mind telling us the dealers name and location. ALSO -- Beware , some dealers post wonderful prices , only to find out that there are many thousands of dollars added on for additional profit. From your note it seems you have not gone to the dealership. Here in Florida , some dealers post cars that you think are new , but actually have miles on them --- they are called executive cars , carry a new car warranty --- but they are not new--- just trying to help--really. Thanks and good luck.

Without knowing more about your current car there is no way to chime in about if they are giving you fair trade value. And if it's a break even deal, with a car that might not be available, it might make more sense to just go for it.

I haven't even put 300 miles on my R-Spec yet, but I do know I love the car. You probably will too. And who cares if the car has a few miles on it, just be sure that your warranty begins on your in service date, and with the in-service mileage. You get the full 100K to use, so it should be warrantied to 100300 miles, and ten years from your date of purchase.

The best advice you will get is to drive your current car a few more years, pay it off, and put some money in the bank. You're just pushing a wave of debt and interest payments in front of you. The sooner you can get rid of those things in life, the better.

My current car is a 2013 Kia Optima EX with everything but navigation. It has roughly 14.4k miles on it. I owe roughly 18k on it and trade in was at 18.2k online.

I appreciate the advice. The way I was looking at it, I would have an extra year of the same payment I am paying now. My friend actually has the 3.8 L and I drove with him in his and loved it. I started researching them and saw some of the deals I could get on them and thought to myself if I am going to be paying this payment I want to get a car I will love.

So my goal is to make it out and take the same payment and just go an extra year with it if possible... if I can't get the deal done though I have no issue keeping my car for a few more years and then looking again.
