  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Lately I have been experiencing my drivers seat moving when I am driving in a curve. I can't replicate this by jerking on the seat when parked. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I think you're going to have to include the year and model number of your vehicle for it to have any meaning...

Well I’m in the G80 forum so that should tell you what I own. It’s a 2016.

It’s funny you say that, because you are in the wrong forum. There is a forum for the 2015-2016 Hyundai Genesis, and this is not it.

There is a TSB on how to fix it. Take it to your dealer, and they can get it done.

This is the G80 forum. I didn’t know there was a 15-16 G80 forum. Sorry if I caused a problem

technically speaking a 2015-2016 isn't a Genesis G80, it is a Hyundai Genesis. semantics to most people, me personally I could care less, auto forums are about helping others regardless if someone posted their issue in the wrong forum.

You are confused with terminology.

The 2015/16 are the 2nd generation Hyundai Genesis. They are not a G80, though very similar.

Starting with the 2017 model year the Genesis brand was to be spun off from Hyundai and the model you are driving is now called the G80 in the 2017 and newer years. Aside from the typical model year upgrades and improvements they are nearly identical.

Thanks for the clarification. Good to know.

Of course, there are plenty of '17 & '18 Genesis vehicles here that are DMV registered as Hyundais, but that's another story.

The TSB # in that link isn't a good number. Correct TSB # is 17-BD-003. Understand, that TSB is not a recall. As long as you are under the 5/60, it'll still be covered. A lot of people get the 2 mixed up.

Thanks, he did say my warranty should cover it. I go in Thursday, we’ll see.

I've had this same issue with my 2017 G80 and I've taken it to the dealer twice to be looked at with no long term fix yet. I'll take in these TSB numbers though and see if they can make any progress. It sure makes the car feel cheap when you can feel the bottom of the seat shifting a quarter of an inch left and right as you go around corners.

My 2018 G80 does the same thing. Glad to hear about the TSB.

Had the Genesis serviced today getting an oil change and tires rotated and balanced. I gave the service adviser the TSB number 17-BD-003 that GarnetTy1473 provided. Thanks! They looked at it and said they ordered a whole chair rail assembly and should be here in a week. About an hour install. So far this and the drivers side visor not staying put is my only complaint.

Thanks for the notes on this thread. The driver's seat on my 2018 G80 was shifting left and right as well when turning. Took my car in for an oil change and provided the TSB mentioned here and they replaced the chair rail assembly. All good now!

Just to follow up I had this chair rail assembly replaced per the TSB as well and it's rock solid. FINALLY!
