If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Lowering a Genesis Sedan

Jastylr those rims look GREAT on your car. A really good looking set up. Aftermarket suspension will make the car ride even firmer! Boy thats not what I'm looking for. Someone wrote on these forums that "if what you are looking for is a cushy, Lexus like ride you will never be happy with this car" that just might be the only real answer. Actually I did notice a significant improvement by lowering the pressure in the tires. If I lower them to say 27-28lbs psi that might be enough to make happy with the ride.

i can't wait to see this with out the photoshop
that is the exact sizes i'm running on mine and thinking about lowering it too

I will definitely take some pictures once I get them. I'm looking at about 2-3 weeks on order right now. I will probably take some pictures of my current setup as well, I just haven't done it.

Thanks for the info Jastylr. Im considering the ARK system. Its pricey but if it can soften the ride I'm willing to give it a shot. Anyday some company is going to provide a simple answer that will make this the car we all thought we were getting. Thanks again.

Good luck with your choice. If you are looking for a softer ride though, you should probably consider the OEM suspension upgrade. While my ride feels pretty smooth compared to how it was on the stock 2009 setup, the coilovers are a performance part and by nature are not going to be as soft as a stock shock/spring although maybe turning the dampening all the way down would be soft enough particularly if you are running on stock wheels and tires which will provide more cushion with the higher sidewalls.

$1400 plus shipping and installation and you are actually right about the same price point as replacing the OEM suspension with installation. According to the post http://www.genesisowners.com/hyundai-genesis-forum/showthread.php?t=5400, it cost about $1800 for parts and installation. My coilovers came to $1550 with tax and shipping and then $250 to get them installed so there you go. Depending on how much you can get the installation done for, you are at the same price.

Thanks, although like I mentioned, this is just a Photoshop image right now. The actual wheels are coming in a couple of weeks or so and I will post how they look on my real setup once I have them. My car is actually a little lower than this image.

Yeah, as another poster mentioned, these cars are really affected by tire pressures which I have noticed for some time. Just being slightly off will change the ride. Just be careful not to go too low or you will affect tire wear and mileage.

For reference purposes, the 2010 rear sway bar for the V8 part number is 5510 3M150. This bar comes as an assembly with bushings and bushing brackets. The bar diameter is a 18.1 mm. I ordered this bar assembly to upgrade my 2009 (build date May 28, 2009) to a thicker bar. I paid $110.05 for this.
Found that my existing bar was the same, so this specially-ordered bar is now surplus. I will sell it for $75 plus shipping.

Hmmm.. that's good to know. I had just ordered mine on based on the information in another post that the bar was indeed thicker although the poster did not actually measure it but compared it visually. He also stated that the bushings were thicker.

Apparently this bar assembly was revised in October 09 so I would expect something to be different. I may just install it anyway.

Come to think of it, the poster of that thread has a 3.8 like myself so perhaps the 2010 bar is thicker than the 2009 for this model only? Have to wait and see.

The new bar has thicker bushings to reduce rear sway. They are different.

Okay, thanks for the update. Mine has been shipped so hopefully will have it early next week.

I actually ended up getting my new wheels early... yeah! I said I would post a couple of pictures so here they are:

Very nice! No...I was curious. I will be sending my stock suspension soon for mockup by my sponsor. They should have it back to me with a new setup in about 6 weeks - 8 weeks. Right about time for SEMA.

Did anyone ever hear back from Eibach? Do they intend to release a product for the Genesis sedan?

Reviving a zombie here.

Besides Ark and the relatively unknown "Neotechs" from Kspec.com, does anyone know of other options for lowering springs? I'm well aware of the coil over options available so please do not hijack.

It seems H&R and potentially Eibach were going to make something but didn't follow through? What about Korean brands? I had Eibach Sportlines on my Elantra and they were an excellent combo with the stock struts.

Thoughts?

HSD makes a set of coilovers. You can special order them on koreanautoimports.com.

I dont believe HSD makes them anymore for the sedan last time i checked plus i dont think you want to buy from Korean Auto imports because you wont get your stuff...

Lots of issues with this company and if you do a search you will see what i mean :)

From my post above: "I'm well aware of the coil over options available so please do not hijack."

I am looking for springs only at this point. Please read before posting.

Ark has springs (you can check the price at their website)

Megan has coilovers ($900)

I used to have Ark spings, but I wanted to lower more, so now I have Megan coils on my car

Sticking with stock suspension. I like the ride on the stock setup. With my new 20" wheels it looks just as dropped as my old 2003 bmw 745li with eibach springs. 2 finger gap. FYI.
