  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

A very very long time (20 yrs & same car) Camry driver here. It was definitely time to update. After testing driving several cars during our shopping period, we decided to purchase the 2016 Ultimate V6 RWD Genesis. We've had it barely a week and just loving it. Oh...just placed an order for the trunk lid emblem as well! :D

Welcome to the fold, I am sure this is quite the upgrade, in every imaginable way. Grats!

Thanks for the response L. Humunculous! I'm really glad to find that there's a forum for Genesis owners! I happened to stumble upon the site when searching for ways to update the subwoofer to the car. Low and behold I found it. The information was exactly what I needed plus to discover that other owners also finding the audio bass side was lacking as well! Plan to do this soon.

Congrats! I think silver is a fabulous shade that is under-represented here. Enjoy!

Thanks Jaeger and Huddleston! Absolutely adore the Santiago Silver look. I didn't take a photo of the interior but it's the gray package. This combination was hard to find...in fact our dealer had to look out of state for our car! Really glad they found it though!

:welcome: aboard nhan070 an Congrats on your new ride. I drove a Honda Civic SI since 2002 until I bought my Genesis in September 2014. I love this car today as much as the day I bought it.

Thanks Alwaysforward! Really glad to be part of this community! It's crazy; but I barely have the car for a couple of weeks and already planning some updates...trunk emblem (on it's way in mail) update and planning to add a sub.

I've been wondering where all the Santiagos were! Mine is a '15 3.8 RWD Ultimate and also has the gray interior. I like the look better than the black interior in this car. The lighter color and the ventilated seats is a better combo for Los Angeles. I was in Palm Desert a couple of weeks ago in 97 deg. heat and the ventilated seats made a huge difference.

I'm driving a 2000 Camry LE right now with 224k on it. Been my price and joy for a long time, and I won't let it go, but it's time to get a new car. I am still trying to decide between the Lexus GS 350 F Sport and this Genesis. Will look forward to your review of it after a while.

I am still trying to decide between the Lexus GS 350 F Sport and this Genesis.

In my opinion, the front grills on the Lexus are a disaster. Unbelievably ugly. I cannot believe a team of designers would agree on such a thing.
The G2 is a great looking car.

some do like it, and they sell well.

I personally like it. they managed to pull off the popular drop down grille look with their own style.

hyundai genesis grille is very close to the audi, too close for comfort imo. But thats where the market is.

audi started it all, bmw has their own identity, mercedes has their own identity, hyundai is getting there....but it's not original

I concur. The Lexus grill looks like the face my son makes makes when he opens wide and pulls the corners of of his mouth down with his fingers.

I can't believe the company that designed the classic SC 400 made that abortion of a grill standard across their model lineup.

Of course I feel the same way about the "catfish mouth" and 'Simon Legree mustache' fake hood scoops of the 2013 to present Genesis Coupe (I'll duck & cover now for making that statement).

lexus is going even bigger now with their grille. the ES is about 30 pct bigger id say.

The main reason I didn't consider any Lexus i my list when I was buying a car was that ugly grill they have now. As said before they look like a Catfish with an open mouth.

ok i totally see the carfish look.

I like the genesis most because it has such a strong rwd profile where the front axle is pushed out far towards the car.

Believe it or not I STILL have my 1995 Camry with about 260K on it. The plan is to keep it until I can pass it on to my oldest (3yrs away) for his transportation needs. I was at another mechanic for a quick tire patch job and he commented that I should keep it...since "they don't make them like they use to".

The '15 GS350F was also on my list of cars to consider but the styling was (for me,) too aggressively, didn't like the front grill, & considering the options the Genesis just made sense.

Agreed. I have older Lexus that has a "normal" grill. Nothing outlandish but stands the test of time. I'll never buy another Lexus until they dump that ugly Predator grill.

Actually, Audi started to make its grill look like Hyundai's by adopting the hexagonal shape - as have Subaru and Datsun and in part, Ford and Toyota.

As for the Lexus Predator grill - Hyundai did something similar on its Nuvis concept (thank goodness it went no further than that) prior to Lexus using it as the center-piece of its new design language.

And the 4G GS has never approached the sales mark of its predecessor and for the year, the GS is on track to sell HALF of what the Genesis on track to sell for the year.

As for deciding btwn the 2 - depends on what takes priority.

If one wants more of a luxo-cruiser w/ more passenger space than the Genesis is the better bet.

If one wants more dynamic handling, then the GS (smaller and lighter) is the better bet - but if handling really takes precedence, then one should also look at the CTS, XF and the new Alfa (or wait for the next 5 Series).
