  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Map Version 12 is out

I was just checking my new 2015, and it looks like I'm still in map v7! Is that possible?

I dunno, but if you don't have the 3D view option, its definitely a worthwhile update. Although I noticed that in the GUI for ver 11, the auto complete/filter is removed from the address bar. Hopefully they fixed that in 12.

Sure, unless you or the dealer updated it. On the 2015 model it was never free.
www.mapnsoft.com for an update if you feel it would be a benefit. Highways don't move much but the POIs do.

I just meant that if the updates come out every year or two, I'd expect v9 or v10. The previous owner was a manager at a Hyundai dealer for goodness sake!

It looks like it's $170 online, vs $400 quoted from my dealer. Is Carplay included with the update? I can't get the free CarPlay update until I can prove I own my vin to Hyundai

Are you registered with www.myhyundai.com ? I think you get the CarPlay update there.

I'm registered, but my VIN is still registered to the previous owner, or the dealership. I need to email them a copy of my license, the temporary registration, and the bill or sale or title transfer to switch it over. It would be nice if they gave me the map update for free. I assume if I'd bought it from a Hyundai dealer that would have been the case...

If you car was sold to you as new, ie you are the original registered owner, it is complementary for a number of years. No sure what that is for your 2015 In you case since you are not the original owner, it would seem that anything goes that you can talk them into doing.

I already asked the local dealer (brought my car in for some service stuff on Thurs) and the map update is $400. Online is less than half that. But I'm not doing anything until I've gotten that ownership thing straightened out. Last thing I need is to brick something...

The associated costs for the upgrade are unreal. In previous cars, upgrading the navi system cost less than $100. As a result, I find myself using Waze and Google Maps (on my phone) more frequently.

How do I tell which Map version I have?

Go to the System/Info and find Map Ver

Varies slightly on the screen depending on if Ultra or other.

You didn't get the Ultimate. Right? Then, you don't need to spend a dime. You will need the original SD card that came with the car. I tried using a different one because I was terrified of screwing up the original and it wouldn't work. I first copied the files from the original to the new one. When that didn't work, I cloned the SD card. That didn't work either. I finally just installed the update on the original SD card.

It's an extremely slow process. Get the software from Android Auto Vehicle Software Update | MyHyundai.com. Your dealer should already have done that. But once you get registered, you should just download and install it.

I have really no idea why they included the whole map update. I use Android Auto so never need the built in map anyway. I'd have been perfectly happy just updating the system to AA. Anyway, it was a one afternoon thing.

I bought the car from a Kia dealer. I told my local Hyundai dealer that I could install CarPlay myself once the VIN has transferred over, but was curious as to their price, since they could do it right away. They quoted me $130.

So, the updates enhanced the system outside of the navigation system?

Has to be. I have an Ultimate … with neither AA or ACP

Was thinking the same. I have Ultimate as well...and would really love AA!
