That might be possible. The map files are separate from the update files. However, if any of the format of the map files changed, then the new maps wouldn't work with the old software.

I think the interfaces vary per radio type as well.

Takes a long time for some of those things to get updated. My street took two years to get on the map. You can report error on the web site and that can speed up changes.

So I finally got this update installed, and I have one issue that is really bothering me:

The record feature on SXM only starts recording once you select the present, not all the time like it used to. For example, I select the preset, it is in the middle of the song and you used to be able to go back to the start. Now you can't. It is brutal as this was one of the biggest perks for me on SXM as I am a channel flipper lol

The manual says "once preset channels are saved, broadcasts from these channels will be buffered automatically for your convenience each time you start your vehicle" which is how it used to work, but not how it is working now.

Anyone else notice this and is there a chance this is just a setting?

Also, more minor but related, the back/pause/forward buttons are so tiny now they are a pita to use. Previous size was way better.

This is why I haven't done the update. Not being able to organize favorites as I see fit is unacceptable. I think you may find that the first ten SXM stations are recorded. Those presets beyond ten do not "record" unless it's the station you're actively listening to. Essentially with this update you lose the ability to record some stations if you save more than 10 presets.

How long does the update take? I downloaded it yesterday for my 2022. Drove for over an hour and a half and it never made it past map 1/2. At that point I got home and turned off the car. Went back out this morning for about 45 minutes and it resumed but still didn’t finish.

Anyone have any idea on the length of time it should take?

It shouldn't take that long. Mine have varied from 15 minutes to an hour.

Could be. I was going off memory. My main point was of course that the update results in losing the ability to control which stations get recorded.

Yes, that is correct. I only have about that many XM stations preset, so fortunately it's not an issue for me.

Overall, I prefer the previous layout and functionality over the new one. The pixie tubes are a neat concept and I like the copper colors, but it's not worth a loss in functionality.

Plus it used to be very reliable on navigation, I could say any word and it would find the name almost 100% of the time. Now it seems to not find it about 30% of the time. And this is simple stuff like McDonald's or a local restaurant name.

I'm not sure the update would impact the search. I believe the voice search uses Google via cellular connection.

For me this one took longer than usual and I actually got an error and it restarted at one point. Was still done in 45 min. One thing I don't recall from prior times, I couldn't change the radio station or media during the update and I was on a shitty station lol

Curious what radio / car trim you have. I need to check my radio (base 19 G80) as it may be different.

That night mode thing is a bummer. I haven't tried the USB. I actually leave the SD card out, which means you don't have Genesis NAV but it also makes the interface faster. I just use Android Auto all the time.

What phone do you have? And what cable are you using? I have galaxy S21 ultra and using a Samsung cable from previous phone (since s21 came with a double sided type C cable).. and AA does not work at all for me...ever.

You have AA installed in the phone, right? And when you plug the phone cable into the designated USB port, the AA option does not appear?
