  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Maps Update V9 now shipping

$219 is outrageous price..... it's a rip off for the small improvements....
I could care less about POI updates...... It also takes years to get newer road improvements and changes added to these updates

I'm not selling it, just reporting on it

They refer to other software improvements beyond the POI changes in this V9 release, some of which may exist depending on the version you have.

Just went to "in stock today" - the 2015 Genesis jog wheel version had been pulled back with errors. Maps and software update:

I was told by MapnSoft customer service on 8/13 the new v9 update was released but it could only be ordered through a dealer. However, it's still available on their website for order, so that wasn't true. Think they should have added a software version change (e.g. v9.1) to avoid confusion, but then that would have acknowledged that their initial v9 wasn't ready for prime time...

I am anxious to learn about this. I used the POI search on a 2-week trip I just took and was mislead several times. Once in looking for a gas station it mislead me two times in a row, first sending me to a station that had apparently been closed for some time, and then sending me to a residential area where no gas station exists.
I will just have to learn to use the Google search that is available on the mirror button, but I like the feature on the map that allows me to search "along the route".

I ordered it - due end of the week. My car was a last summer build, so was several revs little behind. Figured with all the money I saved from not getting another BMW, I can splurge on expensive map updates every few years ;)

Google search is better. Not only does it bring up gas stations along the route, but you can ask for a specific gas station. When they pop up on the screen, they list the closest to furthest from your current position. Next to each one is a directional arrow point to the location from your current position. Awesome feature and one that has yet to direct us wrong. I use Mobil/Exxon gas stations exclusively and on our past trip to Myrtle Beach, it found every station with ease.

I bought the update for the map update only, not the POI's.

You do know that after the tanker truck leaves your Mobil/Exxon station it goes down the road to the Shell to drop fuel and then on to the BP, right?

I believe many of those tankers have multiple compartments for different brands....... yes they use the same gas but it's the miracle additive that make the difference ... ( I think) :=)

Do I need a blue link subscription to activate Google search using the mirror button. I have the tech package. Also, which button is the mirror button , I assume you are referring to the rear view mirror.

Thanks

Naw, they different compartments for different grades, diesel, kerosene, etc. All brand's fuel trucks pull up to the same storage tanks, at the end of the same pipeline.

This. I not only have seen it in practice - but also have a cousin in the business who indicates as such.

Each brand buys the raw gas from a local refinery or pipeline depot that is either regular or premium. Then they add proprietary additives for each brand. So by the time the gas is delivered to the gas station and put in their underground tanks, the gas does vary by brand.

Also, there are special blends of gas used in different locations depending on EPA or state regulations, and these blends also vary by season. These blends may include ethanol or other components used to reduce pollution.

By the time you buy it, it is different due to different additives the put in the gas depending on brand.

Mark is correct..... several months ago the cable station ran "HOW IT'S MADE"
series and this subject was covered

Talk about a thread going off the rails!!!!!

I just installed the update. It went smoothly and took about 35 minutes.

Nice thing ... the included 8GB USB key can be erased and reused.

That is hilarious! I kid you all not... Two days ago,I drove past a Chevron station near my office and a tanker was just pulling out of their lot. Less than 5 Minutes later, it pulled into the shell station I was filling up at.

Maybe I'm dense, but I really don't see how the last two posts apply to the topic of this thread, Maps Update V9 now shipping.

I'd really like to read and learn a little more about the latest V9 update. Maybe the changes were too small to make a difference, or perhaps there are no improvements other than the number of roads and number of POIs available.

I complained to my dealer and Hyundai that my new car came will maps a year old so they gave me a free update. The dealer suggested I save it until the next revision comes out if the maps I have now seem ok. I haven't heard anything that great or drastically different about the v9 so I'm just going to wait for v9.5....
