  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

March sales

Can understand the frustration of them promising things and not sticking to it, but not moving from sticker is another thing (if that's the going market price for where you are).

While it seems you got a good deal on the Sportback, Audi dealerships are charging a premium for more in demand models like the RS6 Avant (some, tacking on as much as $50k).
I would agree in regard to sticker, yet the car and others are still sitting on the lot. It was the whole experience that was just really lacking. I thing they are beautiful cars, yet the salesman amd dealership are hurting their business. Don't tell someone one thing and then switch it up the next day, that isn't a good model for business.

I think the lagging G80 sales could be due to the 2021 model prices pushing them equal to or closer to other luxury brands. People may just be rejecting the Hyundai sales/service model at these prices. And like the previous poster, my dealings with the dealer/Genesis support has left a bad taste in my mouth. It has also turned my wife off on purchasing a GV80. She will probably be going with a Lexus.
Such a shame as they are such fine cars.
I think this is spot on. I was in the market for a new car late in 2020. I grabbed a G80 AWD 3.8 in Ultimate trim for $44k. A similar 2021 G80 (2.5 AWD with highest package) is north of 60k. And it doesn't have the heads up display that mine does (oddly, I just noticed that the standard and middle-tier trims get "Leatherette" instead of the real thing).

Everyone has a limit. At the old pricing I'd be looking at a new car but with the increase, I'm holding off. Now there have been a lot of changes to justify cost, or at least much of it. I just don't drive enough these days to justify a $68,000 purchase to get the model with the HUD.

All the technology in my G80 is in a $35k Sonata. Eighteen months left on the 5/60 warranty so I may just use it up.

While that is definitely a factor (the Genesis sedan/G80 sold better than the Equus/G90 relative to its class due to its greater value proposition), just not endemic to Genesis.

The RWD Japanese (what's left of them) have been struggling against the RWD Germans; even Audi, at the higher-end segments, sells a fraction of what MB and BMW do.

Really difficult to compete with the discounts and lease rates that those 2 have long been able to offer.

Nonetheless, doesn't yet seem to be an issue for the GV80, and should be even less of an issue for the GV70.

Then, that's an example of a GM who doesn't know what he's/she's doing.

Korea

Genesis - 14,066 (32,844 YTD)

G70 - 654 (1,952)
GV70 - 5,093 (10,066)
G80 - 5,252 (13,616)
GV80 - 2,470 (5,625)
G90 - 597 (1,625)

All-time record for Genesis in Korea, outselling Mercedes and BMW combined (13,609).

Even with the FL, the G70 is barely outselling the aged G90, which will soon be replaced.

Stinger - 312 (969)
Mohave - 1,189 (3,060)
K9 - 450 (1,318)

Haven't heard of Genesis yet launching over in Europe (for even a soft
launch), but there are 5 GV80s listed as being sold in Switzerland.

Doesn't seem like Genesis has actually launched in Israel yet (even tho listed as Genesis); the model sold (22) is listed as the Genesis sedan.

The G80 supply is abysmal. According to Autotrader there's only 1,211 G80's being sold in the entire country. GV80 is at 1800. G70 is at 1500.

Meanwhile BMW has 3,400 2021 5-Series. Even the A6 is at 2,000.

I wonder how much of this low inventory is due to the employee strike at the Ulsan plant. Aside from dealerships, Hyundai/Kia/Genesis's Achilles heel appears to be its overburdened supply chain.

And now they'll be hit with the chip shortage too:

^ But at the same time, based on last month's sales rate - there's almost 3 month's worth of supply for the G80; let's say last month was an anomaly and go with the more typical 600 sales/month - that's 2 months supply.

G70 is also at 2 months supply.

The GV80 is essentially at 1 month supply.
