  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Mass Issue: Genesis Infotainment Driver/User Profile Settings Reset Discussion

I have read through everything in this forum, Facebook, and everything I can find. From what I can tell there are plenty of people that would welcome the opportunity to do a full reset of their profiles to bring their problems to a resolution. The best I could do was to use the guest profile to not get constantly locked out at the user agreement screen. Some of us are not in the position to just move on from this issue as you suggested.
I have the same problem. Could you try when you're stuck on the user agreement screen, turn off the engine and then start the car by pushing the start button with the key. This method works for me

I am also stuck on the user agreement screen and can’t get past it. I sent Genesis a video, here's the video for everyone else to see the issue I'm getting.

What do you mean "start the car by pushing the start button with the key" ????

To start the car, instead of using your finger, use the car key to push the button

I just went out to my car to try this and it didn’t fix the issue for me. Thanks for suggesting though. I’m open to all fixes at this point.

Have you tried a hard reset of the head unit by disconnecting the battery for about 5 minutes and reconnecting it?
If you do disconnect the battery follow the instructions in the owner manual to reset windows, roof and trunk if necessary.

Sorry, I would not expect those of you who are still having issues to move on. It is sad to see with all the information so many of us are posting to help for some it is not working,
The last resort is performing a hard reset of the head unit by disconnecting the car battery for 5 minutes and then reconnecting it. After disconnecting the battery If necessary follow the instructions in the owners manual to reset, windows, roof and trunk.
I would hate to think that for some this issue may mean the head unit might have to be replaced.
I would get with the General Manager and really stress that he or she stay on Genesis to get you issues resolved ASAP and you would expect a daily report as to how this matter is being resolved.
It also does not hurt to let them know the thought of involving an attorney is the last thing you would want to do.

Good luck🍀 I meant no harm to others by my post. I don’t take what you are dealing with lightly and I strongly believe that Genesis needs to get this matter resolved for you and others ASAP.

It looks like you are inside a garage. Maybe you need to be in an open area; just a wild guess!

As I said. My user profiles were not wiped out. I cannot access them. I appreciate the offer to help, but like I said.. I've read everything. BOTH KEYS doesn't in any way help me.
According to the customer service rep I spoke with, once you perform the head unit reset and have access to the Infotainment Screen you must go out and reconfigure the Genesis Connect Account prior to restoring all of your previous settings including your user profile. Not reconfiguring the Genesis Connect Account could keep you from being able to successfully restore all of your previous settings as well being able to access your user profile.

Unfortunately this is not always a one and done operation. You may have to make several attempts at performing these tasks to see success. I know it took me several attempts to reset the head unit , set up my profile and successfully reconfigure the Genesis Connect Account.

I only use my key fob. I have not activated the card nor am I using any type of fingerprint ID.

Yes, I've tried that, and disconnected it for about 30 mins

it looks like it’s between your service department and Genesis to get this matter resolved.

The best to you….

Agree with this suggestion. Every time I've had to reboot the head unit and reconnect to Connected Services, I was told the car needs to be outside with a clear view of the sky.
Just tried it while moving the car outside under the open sky. Still same issue. :(

Wow, really sorry to see you're having so many issues. It sounds like a visit to your dealer is going to be necessary. I do hope this is resolved for you quickly.

I just took a look at your video. I would like for you to lock and unlock your door with just the key fob that you regularly use and I would suppose that is for driver one. Leave the second key fob in the house.
Enter the car and press the driver #1 setting on the door. Turn on the ignition and reset the head unit again and let’s see what happens.

If you get the same message again about the need for both key fobs to be present, try again with both key fobs but do not place them on the dashboard.

I don’t know why it asking for both key fobs to be present and then not recognizing that they were both present. This is where I believe your problem lies.

As in other posts for this issue, some did NOT loose their profiles who also had done the latest update via USB. Not enough responses yet in general to determine a strong correlation.
Can you use the USB to regain any of the settings?

I could be wrong but from what I am getting this issue has nothing to do with any software updates that were successfully downloaded. This issue was caused by a bogus software update that was never supposed to go out.

Trying to reinstall the USB for a previous update will do no good if you can’t get to the software screen to perform the update. Trying to reinstall a previous update may do more harm then good, but then again I might be wrong.

It is good to see you reaching out as I believe that everybody under the sun is trying to help those who are unable to do so get their settings restored. It would really be great to see Genesis take the same initiative to do the same.

Hello,
I have a 2021 GV80/Prestige. 30K miles
Today I started it up & all my settings were somehow back to factory default !!!! What pain.
Does anyone have a clue why this happened ?
Thanks:cool:
Yup VERY frustrating. Erased all of my saved addresses

Same here. This morning I got in my car, and it was as if my driver profile was never set up. Had to reset everything-driver assist, Bluetooth, audio settings, map settings, time settings etc. What gives?
So I'm seeing a lot of comments and we're all saying the same thing has anybody actually found an answer for this issue?

This incident took place on Saturday June 10, 2023 and there are people posting it is just now happening to them, wow!

Unless Genesis has miraculously responded to this issue the answer to your question is no if you are asking will it happen again 🤔
