  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Mass Issue: Genesis Infotainment Driver/User Profile Settings Reset Discussion

Yeah, for me it was a relearning of some of the settings I had not seen in a long time. I was ticked at first but...
For me it keeps going back to not being able to connect to genesis devices after a day or so after hard reset. What am I doing wrong?

All we really know is the change was not supposed to be sent out. Not enough information to say if he should be fired. Circumstances matter and we don't know them.
You made a statement as if it were fact. Just wanted to know if you knew something inside the bubble mere mortals aren't privy too. Evidently you don't.

Update: Car sat at the dealership parking lot for 2 days untouched, they couldn't get anyone to work on it. I need the car back since I am going out of town and can't take their loaner out of state.

Genesis dealers remain utterly useless, and Genesis corporate keeps their stance of keeping their customers in the dark with this.
Did you get your problem resolved and if so how was it resolved?

Until Hyundai and Genesis send out and official report to all owners who have been affected by this unfortunate chain of events and what steps and actions they have taken to resolve and assure it does not happen again we are all left in the dark.
You really cannot trust what customer service reps are saying as all the reps seem to have their own made up version of what and how it happened.
Perhaps all of our time might be better spent pressing for and official written report, but we best not hold our breaths for it.

Sorry your sarcasme detector did not flag when it saw Super Mario. Maybe it needs a tune up.
It was something not to be sent out though., according to Hyundai/Genesis

I did miss the sarcasm and just read they were fired and fired off a reply without going further. I personally, think Genesis handled the entire fiasco badly. At a minimum, we should have all received a formal apology for the mess they created and something to compensate us for our time.

You have to learn that 99% of what EdP says is with tongue firmly planted in cheek.
I enjoy his responses, but I know most are just humorous.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
As a pretty new member of the forum, It'll take me some time to learn about people's posting quirks ;-)

If you mean you lost all your settings in your car, including your finger print, radio stations, etc., the only solution is to bring both keys to your car and set everything up again. You'll likely need to reconnect to Connected Services as well. If you don't know how to do that, let us know and we can provide simple directions.
No my problem seems to be that every few days after a hard reset I lose connection to genesis and can’t get it back unless I unplug battery. When I reset my profile is there and all but then like clock work a day or so later it disconnects and won’t let me update anything on my phone, see the weather etc. just spins and said weather information unavailable. Also goes back to the skyscraper skyline and doesn’t change depending on weather.

Thanks for clarifying. Unfortunately, I don't have any advice for that one. Rebooting the head unit and connecting to Connected Service is easy, but that doesn't seem to be the issue you're having.

I imagine the compensation will be the same as we get from the electric company when power goes out.

Some people complained loudly enough and said Genesis gave them 3 more months of Connected Services. I guess I didn't complain loud enough. You're right though. The power company doesn't give anything for power outages. But Spectrum gives you a free day if cable/internet services are out longer than something like 4 hours.

I purchased a 2002 Sonata. A year or two late, I got a letter from Hyundai saying that they lied about the horsepower and gave me a $200. Visa card and extended my warranty 10,000 miles plus an additional year. I had no clue, nor could I care less about a few horsepower, but it was a nice gift.

That was decent of them to do. Maybe in two years, we'll all get an apology letter and a certificate for a free bag of fries at McDonalds.

There might have been a class action suite, but I doubt it. In a class action suite, the lawyers get millions and the people who were damaged get about $3.82. Reminds me about a class action settlement for a John Deere Lawn tractor I purchased. Amazingly enough, it was for the same thing, wrong horsepower. I got a check for about $3.82. You know the lawyers got a ton of money.

Today my wife went to use her 4 month old GV70 and found that her entire profile was missing! Everything, from log in screen to ambient lighting, all gone. However, my profile as driver #2, was still there but I lost the ambient lighting, lift gate height and a couple of other conveniences. Has anyone else had this happen?
I wonder if they are pushing out resets with new software?

We mere mortals just don't deserve much, right?!

I would recommend that you try reconfiguring your Connect Service Account.

I was one of the ones who reported receiving 3 more months for my Connect Services.
It is not about how loud you complain, but rather the customer service rep that you speak with. The same things goes for the help you get in getting a lot of issues resolved.
I think perhaps it’s more about how persistent you are in calling in and then being lucky enough to get someone who honestly cares and is not just there to draw a pay check or feed you a bunch of bull in hopes that you will just move on and leave them the heck alone.
Even with this present issue that has impacted everyone posting on this thread, I was able to get through this by speaking with a customer service rep who knew their stuff and cared even if it meant directing to outside sources such as MapNsoft who helped in getting the issues that fell under their jurisdiction resolved.

I would not be surprised if there is not a class action lawsuit filed over this matter, if no more than to get Genesis and Hyundai to be more transparent when things of this nature occur.

Good luck 🍀 and best wishes to all who are still dealing with this matter which is now in its third week of being reported on.

Other than being inconvenienced by taking two hours of my time to get everything back where it was before they summarily removed my profile and settings, it hasn't been any more than that. I didn't even think to check this forum to see if anyone else was impacted and I just sat in my car and re-did everything. It wasn't until I checked here to see the magnitude of this and I did call Genesis to ask why. I emailed Genesis to ask why. In both communications I suggested a formal apology should come from Genesis and some kind of compensation, even if just to extend Connected Services and was politely told that wasn't something they were contemplating, but they were sorry for the inconvenience and suggested I could head over to my dealer who would be happy to reconfigure things for me. TBH., I know more about settings in my GV70 than my dealer does and as mentioned, I had already set everything up again.

I'm not angry about this. I told them I wasn't angry. Things happen. People aren't infallible. But how a company handles messing up countless customers cars says a lot about a company. And Genesis should have handled this much much much better.
