  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I purchased a 2011 Genesis 4.6 on September 16th 2015. It only had 32K miles and so far I could not be happier.

I always modify my cars to look different, I like a factory custom look. I got the car back from the body shop yesterday and got the new wheels and tires today.

I had the roof painted Candy Black, I changed to a blacked out 2012 grille with a solid chrome upper piece, added a RKSport trunk spoiler, Darker Red Tails, and 19" wheels from the Genesis Coupe.

My Dad started me on wanting cars that were different, he would say, "I don't want to see myself coming down the street." and I live by that today.

I also like to confuse people and make them think they have seen something they have never seen before.
Some people de-badge their cars, I re-badge mine.
Here is my Genesis R Limited, I actually got a service writer at the Hyundai Dealer today, he said, "I have never seen a Limited model before." I guess it worked.

I bought the wrong Genesis Wing Center Caps, so I have to wait for the larger ones for the Coupe to come in.

I am very happy with the way the grille came out. I am going to paint the lower grille as well next month.

The RKSport Spoiler cost a little bit more, but I really like the shape.

When I had the roof painted, I also did the roof moldings, because that is how they do it on the 2G with the panoramic roof.

I knew what I wanted to do, before I even bought the car, but what others did here on the site really helped me know I was going down the right path.

I like the blacked out roof!

Looks really good.

Clean..will you plan to lower or do any performance modifications?

I do plan to change to the R-Spec suspension and the Rigid Collars.

I also want to change to the Dynomax Mufflers to get the low V-8 rumble.

I would like to lower it, but that would void the extended warranty I just bought.

Apart from the badging, not too shabby! I'm on the fence about the coupe wheels, but that's probably from being around coupes too long. :p

I think they are one of the nicest OEM wheels I have seen, and for a $159 a wheel net price, I like the price.

Your car looks very nice, except for those badges, especially an "R".

Looking forward to seeing what it looks like with the lower grille well painted.

I doubt there is much, if any, difference. Hyundai switched to a much softer suspension for the 2012 Genesis, except for the R-Spec, which is pretty much like the 2009-2011 suspension.

However, one thing that would be a good idea is to replace the 2011 rear stabilizer bar with the 2012 version. Should only cost about $125 plus labor (there are some threads here that show how to replace yourself if you are up to it).

car looks good. I can understand de-badging as I did that to my 13' 3.8 as well as my 15 5.0. I have never understood re-badging or adding badging that contradicts what a car actually is. So what do you say if a knowledgeable person asks you what the "R" variant is? I know if I saw you out and about or at a show or in the parking lot I certainly would just to hear your answer.

Other than the badges I like what you have done.

Like the black roof and coupe wheels. I'm about to pull the trigger on a wrap for mine. Coupe wheels are a good and inexpensive option if you don't like the R-Spec wheels.

That's the point, most people are not knowledgeable about what these cars, and it would start a good conversation with someone like you who does know. I love to meet and talk to people.

Oh BTW, love your G2. I was at the dealer the other day admiring an Ultimate on the show room floor, thinking a few years let's see what the resale value is.

Badging - NO
Everything else - YES

Love the black roof. Seriously considering wrapping mine after seeing that. Nice ride.

Thanks Charles. It is nice to see someone else modifying their Genesis sedan.

I think there are very few cars you can actually do this with.

I happened to do it on my old 7 series. I changed the 745Li into a 777Li. :) I then put a "BOEING" metal plate frame on the back. Pilots and enthusiasts got it - others would ask - and I would just hold up my key-chain:

where did you find the coupe wheels for $159 each?

The black center caps came in, and the wing for the hood.

I also had the lower grill painted black too.

I keep looking at this post. I really love this Genny!
Those wheel are not staggered are they?

I was not aware that if you modify the suspension it would void warranty. Would not changing exhaust do the same? Void? I have WRAP warranty also and I would like to lower and Axleback. I need to ask dealer about that. After my tranny flush/maintenance ($600!) we will see.

Roof painting/wrapping I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone! If you are in the Charlotte NC area, I can recommend a GREAT guy. He is fast and precise!

Have you thought about Cut-Outs?
