If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hyundai sold 3,437 of the Genesis (both sedan and coupe) for May.

The 2015 Genesis was the 2nd quickest model off the lot (after the Macan), avg'ing 6 days.

Going to be a bit more difficult to guesstimate sedan sales since Hyundai has discontinued the T4 coupe and rejiggered the V6 coupe lineup a bit (going to be so much better when Hyundai separates out the next gen coupe).

How does it compare to the 1st gen sales in its first month in N America car market?

I know this should seem obvious, but experience tells me not to assume anything. Are you referring to just 2015s, or combined with 2014's still on the lots?

That's a lot of cars for May considering the sedan sold 1500 copies for the entire last year in Canada. They hope to sell 2000 this year because of the added AWD. Maybe proportionately it sort of works out.

Sucks to be deciding between the two hottest cars in May:

I wish I never test drove the Macan... the decision would be a lot easier then. If I go with the Macan S over the Gen 5.0 Ultimate, I'd be giving up a lot of tech features and still paying more... but the Macan was more fun to drive (had more immediate throttle response than the Gen and handled better...crazy given that it's an SUV).

The other thing holding me back from the Gen is the overly conservative styling (sides and back). It's less conservative than the previous model, but still too bland imho. Tough call because I LOVE everything else about the Gen.

Checked out the Macan today when I had my A8L in for service as the dealer carries both Audi and Porsche.

The Macan is nice but to get the price to be equivalent to a Genesis 5.0 Ultimate you would pretty much have to get the base Macan S with almost no options.

The least expensive Macan S they had on the dealer lot today was $65k with the Macan Turbos coming in closer to $90k. At those prices there are far better deals to be had on German sports sedans.

Where are all the 2015 5.0 Ultimates at? Can not find anything up here in the Seattle area yet.

Are Seattle dealers saying they haven't received any yet, or maybe they just sold them right away and no longer listed on their website inventory list? The dealers may know what is scheduled to arrive shortly, so I would contact them if you are really interested in purchasing in the short term.

I've been calling around and looking at the Hyundai inventory locator and there is just one 5.0, but it's not an ultimate. The nearest 5.0 Ultimate is somewhere in California. Not everyone up here drives a Prius. Lol.

I just got news for my ultimate 5.0 AWD Canadian model. They need to order it at the factory in Korea which has been done. Sceduled for July production and should get it in September. :( Still have my pristine 2012 R-spec so no big deal. :D

Congrats on your purchase, and you will have the AWD just in time for winter.

How does it compare to the 1st gen sales in its first month in N America car market?

1st month was July of 2008 - sold 619 (started selling late June) but supply didn't reach dealers until Aug. and sold 1,177.

In terms of avg'ing 6 days on the lot - just the 2015 Genesis.

Due to demand, Hyundai will be increasing Genesis production.

Hyundai Motor decided to increase its production of New Genesis which is enjoying robust sales.

Hyundai Motor started exporting New Genesis to North America from late April and, thereafter, supply failed to the rising demand there, with stand-by demand reaching 6,000 units.

The monthly production of Genesis will also increase up to more than 5,000 units from 4,000 units.

Hyundai Motor officials said, “The expansion of production volume will start in earnest from the middle of this month. We could increase Genesis production volume further by adjusting the production volume of Equus.”

Domestic sales of 2G New Genesis, which was released first in December 2013, reached 16,775 units for the period from January to May this year, about three times higher than those of Genesis which was sold 5,614 units a year ago.

Just closed the deal on my 15 5.0 Ultimate - pick it up tomorrow morning. Very excited. Coming from the '12 R-Spec, I can't wait to see some of the added creature comforts, most of all the easy Bluetooth streaming and some of the cooler driver safety tech. I didn't see a huge improvement when test driving from the R-Spec, but I think that it's hard to be objective as someone who loves his car.

Went with the Casablanca white with black interior. Will post pictures when I get home tomorrow!

what was you final price and i cant wait to see ur pics havent seen one thats my r spec color.:D

Here's the breakdown on pricing. I'll also post in the pricing thread as I'm sure more info on this is good for the whole group.

It's a 5.0 Ultimate, Casablanca White with black interior and with quite a few accessories (wouldn't have gotten them but didn't have much choice given the limited selection):
- First Aid kit (came with two for some odd reason, a small, chincy-looking one and a nice, hard-shell version that is much nicer),
- Rear bumper protector (already looks dingy around the edges and I only have 200 miles),
- Reversible cargo tray (not nearly as nice as what was in the '12 R-Spec, and
- Wheel locks.

All in, MSRP was $55,955 with $950 destination fee. Note that the original dealer, I got it through a dealer swap, had it listed for $61,772, and listed things already covered as reason for the price increase. Here's the list: Resist All, Vin (Sic) Etching, 1-Year Maintenance Package, Nitrogen Filled Tires, First Aid Package, Wheel Lock Package, Lifetime Appraisal, "Free" Service Loaner (with Appointment). This was supposedly an added $2,777. And, on top of that, there was an "Adjusted Market Availability fee of $3,000. They were really trying to gouge someone. That dealer was Oxmoor Hyundai in Louisville, Kentucky. Not sure how they can get away with that.

Total price paid before doc fee: $51,028.
Doc fee: $289.
Trade in: $27,820 2012, black on black R-Spec with 32k miles (paid just over $40k so I was pleased with the residual value. It was in near-mint condition with an excellent maintenance log.)
Thank you gift: $50 gift certificate to Starbucks for the kid that worked his ass off to arrange the trade, transport and deal with the fact that I can be particular.

That's about all I can think of . . . please don't tell me if you think I got a bad deal, I'm pretty pleased with myself and am wearing an ear to ear grin right now. Let me live on cloud 9 for a bit?

This is the stuff that makes consumers understandably leery of car sales. I consider a car already loaded with these add-on dealer "features" to be a mark of an unscrupulous seller and to be avoided like the plague. I would rather pay more for an honest, knowledgeable pleasant experience then being sold air in my tires for a premium.

First words out of my mouth would be "I am not paying for any of those add-ons." Sounds like that is what he did as well. Great deal.

Of the 3,437 Genesis sold in May, 2,071 were for the sedan.

H/K sold a total of 2,622 large premium sedans (includes the midsize segment), placing them 4th after MB, BMW and Cadillac.

Will see that no. rise above the 3k mark, once Genesis sedan supplies are up and when Kia launches the V6 K900.
