Michelin Energy Saver A/S 235-50-18 97V

I just had the Michelin Energy Saver A/S 235-50-18 97V installed on my Genesis 4.6 today. Tire tracks straight and no balance issues. It took none or very few weights to balance tires. In my opinion between the Dunlop Sport 5000M, Continental Conti Contact Extreme, Michelin PilotHX MXM4 and Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ,the Energy Saver A/S is the softest riding over rough payments, smoothest and quietest riding tire. I find the steering to be very responsive and much easier than the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S.
I drove in the rain but not enough water to check for hydroplaning which I do not feel will be a problem with this tire.
I would say a person who is looking for a smooth quiet ride and is not an aggressive driver will really like this tire but for the sports car enthusiast this tire may not be to your liking. The tire handles well but not sporty.
The side wall looks nice.

my car is sensitive to crown in the road, but that's to be expected due to the suspension goals hyundai set their sights on. if you need a softer ride this car is not it. a chrysle 300c is much more suited to that. our cars are more between that and an 300SRT8. good luck, glad to hear they make you happy.

My issues as it has been with some others was a tire issue. I posted this to give some insight to those who have enquired about the Michelin Energy Saver A/S 235-50-18 97V.
I am glad to know you are happy with the OEM tire and hope they continue to serve you well.

I too was happy with the Dunlops, just not in snow.
(not to further hijack the thread/offend the OP. Stuff happens though.)

thanks for the review, this was very helpful as there are no recent Genesis owners posts on the tirerack for it (except it is listed as an OEM tire along with the Dunlops ).
I plan on ordering the Energy Saver A/S tires this fall...

I do not think you will be disappointed. After I have had the tires for a while ,500 - 1000 miles or so, I may do a review on the Tire Rack sight.

As advertised I am getting better gas milage with these tires.

I have reached the point of analysis paralysis between the energy saver a/s', conti dws', and tauranza serenitys.

I have a '11 3.8 sedan with 20k on the OEM dunlops. I have maybe 5k of tread left, but am already at the stage where I get slight spin if I gun the engine accelerating up my inclined street.

I've read every post here and tire rack on the michelins and continentals but ...anyone out there with recent experience, new opinions, changed opinions, etc?

My 3.8 with upgrade, came with Michelin Energy Saver tires. That is one of the things that sold me on the car. It drives great to me and I get over 32 MPG on the higway. I am a Michelin fan though, I have 20 inch Michelins on my Toyota Tundra. I had to order them, wait several weeks and pay through the nose for them but I am not sorry.

Replaced the OEM Dunflops with the Michelin Pilot Sport AS+ but only got 27K with them; Now trying the Kumho Ecsta Platinums with nitogen....I'll keep people posted. I can tell you that they are definitely quieter than the Michelins

These tires are my OEM tires and I made a trip up I77 through West Virginia and back in early February. I didn't have enough time to research the tires so I was unfamiliar with their characteristics. On the way back we failed to miss a horrible cold storm with pouring rain and then snow buildup on the mountains.

In the rain I was focused on seeing through the front window and at one point looked down and saw I was doing 80!!!! The car behaved just as if I were doing 50 - which would have been more prudent. I felt that the car was cutting through the rain like it was a dry road - maybe luck.

When the rain turned to snow the car behaved beautifully through the slush then the snow. I pushed it a little, but not 80, and the car handled beautifully however, I have no idea how it would have handled if I had to brake hard.

The only problem was the snow/slush killed the Smart Cruise - it must have gotten covered.

I fully trust the tires - but I can't honestly recommend 80 in the pouring rain.

On a funny note the auto windshield wipers were hilarious. I had to turn them off auto.

I posted last week on Tirerack the problem with Conti DWS on my 4.6. They pulled right badly even after moving front to back. Car was alco aligned. Conti took them back yet forced me to use another Conti owned tire. I elected to put the new General GMax ultra high performance all season. Car imediately tracked true. Tire is firm yet not as bouncy as the Dunlops.

I replaced the OEM Dunlops with Continental ExtremeContact DWS and have had no problems, no pulling to the right. Compared to the Dunlops, the Contis are much better in every way: better traction in the snow and a much smoother ride on rough roads.

My car came with the Michelin E/S and I like them. Since I live in So. Cal. I can't comment on how they work in rain or snow. Can anybody report how many miles we can expect them to last?

My 2012 4.6 came with the Michelin Energy Saver and there are a very quiet and smooth tire. Car handles well on both wet and dry pavement. I only have 7000 miles on the car, so I do not know what happens as tread begins to wear or how quickly, but so far so good. Does anyone ahve info on the Kuhmo Solus 235/50/18's? I took my car in for th efirst service last week, and I noticed them on the new tire display they had. Hopefully I will not have to worry abot new tires for a while!!
