  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I drive in Fl mostly 55 and 65 mph roads. Using regular gas I am getting 21.7 miles per gallon using Eco mode. I will try a tank in Standard and Sport and report. Anyone else clocked their numbers?:

I'm confused by your surprise. It's rated at 15/23 (18). You're getting above the combined rating and below the freeway rating exactly as you should expect in the driving scenario you describe. It's a 420hp naturally aspirated V8 pulling ~4500 lbs.

In city driving on US1 I was getting 19.8 mpg (calculated) with my 5.0 Ultimate using ECO mode. I am burning strictly Mobil Super Unleaded. I have since switched to Sport mode 24/7, using same fuel and my calculated average is now 17.7 mpg. One thing to know is that the cars onboard computer is off (at least on mine). When in ECO mode it told me I was getting just over 21 mpg even though calculated I was getting 19.8.

Typical suburban driving in the Tampa Bay area and I get 21 in normal mode.

My first week driving my 5.0 did well. I was getting around 15 MPG around town which is about what I expected. On a 4 hour drive to Atlanta and then 4 hours back to Charlotte, I got 26.5 MPG which I think is pretty good. I am hoping that as the car gets more broken in that it will do even better. I was using Premium gas and driving in eco mode on the highway and normal around town.

I was making a statement not acting surprised at numbers

I am interested is seeing how much difference premium gas makes.

I was planning on doing a test on that but it will have to wait until after my first oil change. Immediately after my first oil change, on the next required fill-up, I will fill up with Mobil Unleaded fuel and use strictly ECO mode then on the next fill up switch back to Super Unleaded and do the same and report back. Got a few more months yet before my test.

By the time you get there they will be on Gen 4 with electric motors on all 4 wheels. :roll eyes: Seriously, looking forward to your results.

Tried that, with the Sonata Hybrid as a loaner for a week. Wasn't impressed. Wanted my Genny back.

Who cares. It's a 5.0 V8. I have never checked my 4.6 v8.

I really do not give a hoot otherwise I would do it myself however I would like to put to rest the fact that so many use premium and think the gained mpg almost offset the cost. IMHO there will be no gain or so little it's not measurable. ;)

I agree. I am just curious to see if there is any negligible difference. It is not a money issue. Just curious to know if Premium gas gets better fuel mileage than Regular gas. My guess is as Midnightsun stated above. Not Measurable

Most of us know this but there are the diehards who simply will never understand that paying more will NOT net a better product and since it says premium they assume it has to be better. I know it is impossible to convince these people but maybe 1 more will understand now.

Look at it this way. If I told you I have a guaranteed method proven to increase your MPG by about 2 MPG would you do so? That my friend is about the equivalent of $ saved by simply using regular in your car as opposed to Premium. It's a no brainer, the manufacturer has determined, in writing, you can use regular on both the V6 and V8 so it's not like you will harm anything.

I use regular because why pay for something totally unnecessary? kinda like nitrogen fill in tires. I feel like I am giving the gas companies and government (mega taxed) a 10% tip if I don't and god knows these thieves do not need the extra cash. ;)
