If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Don't get me wrong I love the car. These are some of the items that are missing from the Canadian 2015 compared to the 2009-2014. Feel free to add some more.

The CD/mp3 player:
It once had a 6 CD/DVD/Mp3 player, you could watch DVD's,not any more.
Used to be a 17 speaker system now it's 14 speakers.

The trunk:
Cheap carpet and pull up handle, and net.

Rear Sunshade
Eliminated in the Canadian model.

RWD
Can't get RWD in Canada

Rear seat Map pockets
Again much cheaper

Front seat map pockets
They no longer pull out (hinged)

You are obviously only talking about the Canadian version.

The 17 Speaker system with DVD is available with 5.0 Ultimate trim level, but you are correct that CA does not have a 3.8 Ultimate trim level.

They have a very nice trunk liner accessory, that is much better than the one available in the US.

I was not aware that there is any sun in Canada?

RWD
Can't get RWD in Canada.
I think it occasionally snows in Canada, doesn't it?

Rear seat Map pockets
Again much cheaper.
All models come with a GPS, so why would you need maps? No maps, no map pockets.

Front seat map pockets
They no longer pull out (hinged)
OK, you got me on that one. I am on suicide watch.

I live in Vancouver. It might snow once or twice a year. If it does I use my AWD Santa Fe 2014. AWD is more expensive and gets worse gas mileage. It would be nice to have the choice. Speak about bad weather, I think the USA takes the cake in that one. Tell me this then, why are there map pockets period. If you count the speakers on the 5.0 you will only find 14, also the window sticker and the broucher are incorrect in stating so. They have stop delivery of brochures for a reprint to fix mistakes.

Hope there is more input to come. Once again I do love my car. Just making friendly conversation.

According to the Hyundai Canada website, the 5.0 Ultimate trim has the 17 speaker system with DIS controller, DVD, etc. Are you saying that is a mistake?

I was not aware that the pockets on the front side doors were for maps. I use mine for trash. I will admit that I really like the fact that they are hinged on my first generation Genesis.

It is a miss print. As I stated in the previous post there is a rewrite in the works to correct the mistakes. I test drove one just before I got my 3.8 and the salesman and myself physically counted the speakers and their were 14. Also, remember when I started this conversation, I explicitly referred that I was without doubt taking about the Canadian models of the 2015 Genesis.

I am sure that other Canadians who visit this site will be interested in conversing about CANADIAN version of the Genesis eh.

In Canada there are four versions of Genesis
1. Genesis Premium
2. Genesis Luxury
3. Genesis Tech
4. Genesis 5.0
All models are AWD

All I've got is....
Huh!

Hmmm...US Ultimate models have a single CD (ok for me as my iPhone holds way more music than 6 CD's would ever allow), but it also does play DVD's in full surround sound through a 17 speaker 900 watt system.

Who uses maps anymore? And what do folks actually store in the door panels? I've never stored anything there!

In 5 years, I never used the fold-out feature of the front door pockets. I don't miss them on the 2015.

I do think it's a shame you don't even have the option for RWD, but my guess is the bean counters figured they'd sell such a high ratio of 4WD-to-RWD, so you got stuck with all AWD only. Hey, I can't get AWD at all unless I want to by a 5.0 (which I don't -- great car, I just don't want to put gas in it and spend yet another $5K in purchase price). I too have never used those rear seat pockets for anything, but I'm sure someone does. You got gypped on the rear sunshade.

For all I know, I have 10 speakers in my car. I haven't tried to track down all 17. Gotta admit; I'm a little curious now. Not sure if I'm curious enough to count 'em later today, but curious nonetheless.

Here is a snapshot of the Ultimate package here in the US showing the location of all 17 speakers...

Thanks - this shows that 3 locations contain 2 speakers each and the OP is wrong because he just counted speaker grills. The Ultimate system does have 17 individual drivers and does play DVD's.

The Canadian model definitely has the 17 speaker system however not in the V6. (I actually went out and counted them according to the diagram above) The V6 package here in fact comes with fog lights, illuminated door sills, real wood dash panels but it is deprived of several other items which can be had on the Ultimate in the US. Items that come to mind are 17 speaker, DIS and large screen Nav, larger screen between the gauges and there are a few more which I cannot remember right now.

As for the pull out pockets I find the newer ones are deeper in the door with a larger opening which does not come down to less available storage so no I cannot see the benefit of the old style.

Yes we canucks lost the rear motorized shade but honestly I used it a couple times when I got my 2010 and maybe once there after because I forgot I had it and wanted to try it. In my case it was a useless item and not missed at all. I did have limo tint on the back though and do again also on the 2015 which is far more efficient than any shade can be.

Now for some additional likes which would be how I can put my wallet and phone neatly into the nooks and crannies they have supplied in the center console not to mention ease of charging. ;)

I can understand the confusion when just counting speaker grills as opposed to speakers, but OP claimed that 5.0 Ultimate audio system does not play DVD's any more. I am wondering how that conclusion was reached?

I never even tried on my previous and do not have any audio DVD's but I just went out and popped in a regular movie DVD. I was able to hear the sound track on it no problem so I must assume it can read DVD's.

re: why no adaptive lights

Look up the replacent cost and be glad.

I was not aware that the pockets on the front side doors were for maps. I use mine for trash. I will admit that I really like the fact that they are hinged on my first generation Genesis.

Example: They call the GLOVE compartment as they do, but who these days have gloves in them. There are no Trunks in the trunk. Hence the term used for the side door pockets are identified as map pockets. But you can call them Trash pockets if you wish.
